Cannabis Cup...?

Dunno if this is the right forum for this but im planning my second trip to amsterdam on the 20th-29th november, and obviously the cups going on during that time.

I'm definately going to go for a judges pass, but my friend whos coming with me is a bit of a lightweight, last time he couldn't even smoke two joints back to back so I think if he were to pay to be a judge he'd simply be wasting his money lol.

I've been trying to get as much info on the cup as possible but there doesnt really seem to be a websit that goes into detail of it. Is the judges pass the only pass available? Can you get into the places without a pass, or do you need another pass to come in, but not judge? My friend wants to go, and I obviously want his company, but he doesn't wanna judge.

Hoping someone enlightened can answer this for me, or at least point me to a website with more details lol

Also... can only Americans buy the passes in advanced? The on the door price works out about 70 euros more than if you buy now but I dunno if I can (from Scotland)

order yer pass thru high times website in the shop section...i believe its 250 u.s. dollars but if you pay there its 250 euro.....if you had ordered before april(i think) then its about 175 usd(90 gbp)....but there's quite a few of us going from here on this site....anyone can buy from the high times link....i got mine 6 months ago no probs and i'm in the uk

where is the cup actually held? Is it within all the coffeeshops entered plus some other places?

Would my friend me able to tag along with me even if he didnt buy a judges pass?

might not actually be able to go to the cup... might have to shorten my stay in amsterdam... I'll update if it does get changed though.

you can get day passes at the door,it's at the powerzone ,which is behind the retail park behind mcdonalds near sparklerweg metro station

Whilst I can see some like the event for what it is etc and be able to judge whats what with reguards to the new gear. But unless you get your name mentioned as being part of the judging process whats the point apart from being able to take part in the process of trying the new gear?. Which lets face it you can try as a non judge awyways!.

Either I'm not as much into cannabis as some or I'm missing the main point of the Cup event?.

The main point of the HTCC is supposed to be to judge the "best cannabis in the world". It falls terribly short of that, imo. Mostly, it is about 2000+ american stoners coming to Amsterdam to smoke their brains out for a week. Meanwhile, trying to "judge" various strains of bud, from a severely limited number of participating coffeeshops and seed companies, from mainly Amsterdam. Some love it. Some dont. Some despise it. One love.

i look at it as an excuse for a party....and to escape over the water to happyland away from stress and normality....but mainly to toke with similar minded peoples......and it happens to fall during a quiet period at work...so its all good......plus all the goodies,freebies,samples outweigh the 90 gbp cost over the week,leaving more cash for other things/strains

after buying the judges pass, where exactly do you go and how does the judging work? I was guessing it was done in the coffeeshops themselves? Or is it all under one building? Do you get a joint, or a half gram or what?

Wondering if it was possible to just take some shit and take it home with me so id have enough to do me after the cup too lol.

oh... and im back on for this... the complications I ran into are fine now so my plans to the dam wont be affected.

Hi Levvy,

I'll also be in Amsterdam at the time but I'm not going to the Cannabis Cup.

1. You buy weed and hash in the participating coffeeshops, you'll be given some free samples/vap hits at a few shops if you show your pass.

2. Smoke up (in your lodgings, in the coffeeshops, Powerzone)

3. Then you write down your thoughts on the weed (I believe there are specific categories) Taste, high and so on

4. Towards the end of the convention you'll visit the expo and cast your votes and the winners are announced on the closing day of the Cup.

There are some parties and concerts that you'll be able to get into with your cup pass.
