Off to the Dam 24th November - 26th

Hey all,

Right it's done, my first (proper) trip to the Dam is booked for 24th-26th November, it's all very scary as I'm doing it alone. This is the first real thing I have done on my own following my divorce and it's pretty daunting to say the least.

I have a few questions I was hoping you cool dudes would help me out with.

1. I am looking for a nice place to start my adventure, a CS with a good vibe, chilled out sounds, good weed and the like. I am new to the buying over the counter scene so where is good (near the station) that has a chilled out budtender that can recommend some good stuff for me.

2. I don't smoke tobacco that much so I was thinking of buying a small pipe or something I can use. Do CS let you use pipes and the like? And if so where is a good place to buy one?

3. Can you recommend some types of bud I can try, I am looking for more of a celebral high as I plan on doing some writing while chilling out there? Am i right in saying Sativa strains are the way to go?

4. Any CS have TV's showing films and footy etc?

That's it with the questions I promise. Been reading thjese forums for a while and you guys all sound pretty cool, would be cool to chill out and perhaps meet up with anyone who's in the dam while I am there.

Stay cool guys and gals :)

1-3/ Go to Dampkring (Pink Floyd) like 5/10 minutes from central station and try their hazes! Mexican/hawaiaan/Ocean 12's etc etc check their menu.

2/Of course you can use whatever you want in a coffeeshop unless it's tobacco. You can buy a good pipe at the old indian.

4/Go to Dolphins, they have a downstairs area with huge tv playing movies.

^^as he said^^

There is a few good shops up the Haarlemmerstraat which are chilled out. In my opinion your better off with sativas with a bit of indica for bed.
Its going to be busy them dates but i am in from the 21st-24th maybe 25th so we can meet up for a smoke :D
enjoy

Hell man, first off dont worry about going alone. My first ever trip to Amsterdam was alone, so I can get some idea on how you might be feeling etc. Once there, like me you will more likely start to relax and forget your concerns in favour of the freedom to do anything you want in Amsterdam. Just dont worry or be afraid to ask questions either on here or in Amsterdam.

As FlyByNite said there will be loads of members to meet and hang round with on those dates.

First, there's no reason to be intimidated.

1. Several coffeeshops are near the station. The new Dampkring (formerly Pink Floyd), on Haarlemmerstraat, was a very good suggestion. If you're more inclined to go the opposite direction out of the station, toward the RLD, Hunter's also is an early-opening shop, has a wide selection, and usually isn't so swamped that the budtender doesn't have time to answer your questions.
2. Many coffeeshops have bongs and pipes free for you to borrow, and keep them clean for that purpose. Dampkring, I know, has pipes. Other coffeeshops also offer vaporizers. All coffeeshops offer free rolling papers and rolling tips. As someone mentioned, as long as tobacco's not involved, you can consume however you wish.
3. Kermit gave you good advice about using indicas, particularly later in the day. Any thought that indicas can not have cerebral properties is misguided. They can, and almost always do. Any thought that sativas necessarily have more cerebral properties also is misguided. Sativas generally offer a more peppy high, indicas a stonier buzz. As with any generalization about the cannabis miracle, your mileage may vary, and you'll just have to see it for yourself.
That said, Chocolope, Hawaiian Haze and Amnesia Haze are my sativa suggestions. Many people on here have glowing things to say about Super Silver Haze, too.
On the indica side, I generally urge people to take the opportunity for lower-priced weeds to soothe the budget. There are good bulk-quantity indica values on the ground, like the Blueberry from The Noon or Mellow Yellow, the various organically grown weeds at Club Media, and many others. I've had some particularly memorable indicas (Sensi Star and White Russian) from Old Amsterdam coffeeshop, an overlooked gem with a vast menu which I strongly recommend.
4. I'm not a good source on this, but I know Stone's Corner used to have SkyTV and focused on major matches, so I'd guess that's a good place to start.

Hi there
A great coffeeshop thats friendly and has a mix of locals and a few tourists that have found it from Japan, China, France, Spain etc (thats only the ones I remember) is the Balloon on Roeterstraat in the Plantage area. Thats near Waterlooplein. Check it out. Theres a good selection of weed and the vibe is friendly. Big model of a balloon with some1 in the basket hanging from the ceiling and if you're lucky enough to get the seat just in front of the dope seller you will be privileged to get to watch the tank with the lizards, snake and running water thats so trippy. They have a telly and last Jan or Nov they had the darts on, not sure if the owner/clientele are into fitba (Glasgow slang for the great game) but its def worth a visit and they do nice coffee and snacks. Upstairs if you can brave the vertical stairs you have a good view of the shop. Theres also a few decent things to do nearby - Tropics museum, Botanic gardens, Holland Schouw and the Resistance Museum both of which are very moving, as well as the Jewish museum and synagogue, good bargains at Waterloo flea market.
I arrive 26th and leave 28th but will put it on my itinerary. Enjoy your stay and be happy
Paul
