Kroikey and Doug in the Dam

Well after getting back home and having a week of relaxation, its time to relive it all!

Day 1

Me and my mate Doug decided that an early arrival time by hairoplane would be best, but that meant a 3.30am start time for our travels. Unfortunately Doug decided to go wild the previous night and had little to no sleep, then couldn't sleep before we travelled, so we arrived bleary eyed at about 8.45am in the Dam. We immediately got lost and ended up on the outskirts of the RLD, but managed to find our way into an unknown coffeeshop. By the way, don't expect coffeeshop names, prices or any kind of useful information here! I bought 2g of Amnesia Haze and we began smoking that, bit silly given that we couldn't check in til 2pm. After we'd had 2 joints of that stuff, mixed, we wandered around til we found our hotel. We then found coffeeshop Ben around the corner and went there to while-away a few hours.

We were constantly aware of being ripped off by people doubling prices on the spot, or attempting to sell us a tin for our goodies at 14 euro! We said no, so guy then tried to get us to buy a rolling kit (tin, lighter, skins, and a fucking keyring) all for the lovely price of 30 euros! We told him to go fuck himself and left.

Anyway, back in Ben: By 11am we were absolutely scoobied. The back room in Ben is quite nice, you can smoke mixed and the music was good (snoop dogg etc.). I started getting a little paranoid in there, mainly because I was tripping from the weed. This eased a little when we got talking to some guy who worked for Ferrari and was just stopping in the Dam for a few J's, he seemed a cool guy with a cool job. We said our goodbyes and headed to the hotel for a nap.

Ewwww, was the first and last impression. The hotel was only like £20 a night, so we got what we paid for. One double and one single, and somehow I ended up in the single. The 'en suite' was a closet door right behind our heads, but luckily there was no back-draft smells lol. The hotel was the Continental, a backstreet place right next to the 420, which was lucky because I'd arranged a meet and that was the location!

We slept for a few hours, then I woke up and was hungry for some Dam. After attempting to wake Doug and failing, I went to find some food. I went to a little pizza & pasta place called Tivoli or something, on the main Damrak street. 6.50 euros for a 12" thin crust, awesome! I took a calzone back for Doug, and when I got back he was up and panicking that I'd gone off in the Dam without him. Jealousy finally aroused the beast!

We went out for a pint, popped in the 420 for a few joints, then attempted to walk around for a while. I took Doug down the RLD since it was dark and it looks prettier then. He couldn't believe this aspect of the Dam, or the difference from the morning when all we could see were shops for food, souvenir, and bars. We were now walking through coffeeshop, bar, sex shops, constantly repeating with the odd red light shoved in. Our interest in the RLD stopped at the tourist stage, ie look for a laugh then go smoke something!

We didn't go very far the first night, and it wasn't long before we were back in 420. We'd ramped up our smoking from a 50:50 mix to 10:90 almost pure, so we were suffering from couch lock and tripping lol. Doug really wanted to trip, it was his birthday, so after me umming and arring I said OK but only the weaker Thai's and only if we just soak them in tea. We'd bought them and took them into 420, got a tea, then dropped half the box in, trying not to look to suspicious (not sure if it was ok or not). My idea was I'd make this trip as weak as possible by not consuming the whole mushrooms and not even chopping them up before soaking. WRONG! These Thai's were still extremely potent. After an hour we retired to the hotel to peak. What a laugh we had, I don't remember the details but I have the sore cheak muscles to prove it. Unfortunately my trip was dominated by the feeling of wetting myself, which has been the effect the last two times I've tripped on shrooms. I end up spending my trip laughing that hard that I think I'm pissing, then spend the whole trip with curled toes to combat the phantom piss. Damn shame, but still had fun!

Unfortunately I got the most severe indigestion I've had in a while, so beer was off the menu (at 5 euros a pint who cares!). Doug brought a big bottle of Jack Daniels with him, so he was set. He drank and smoked himself silly, even though I warned him not to mix, he rallied 'It's my birthday, don't think I'm not going to drink!'. We smoked a pure joint with two lots of nepal sausages rolled into it. Super joint. One or two draws and you just sat in silence - stunned...

We fell asleep eventually to the sound of a man playing his digeridoo right outside our window.

Day 2 and 3 still to come - with even less information! Hazy dayz.

I thought the 420 stopped selling beer.
Was it last year you were there ????

lol, thanks man, compared to my trip and others ive read that have been meticulously planned and scheduled, this one sounds like its gonna be a lot of unscheduled, spur of the moment, impulsive madness, GREAT!!

I was lol'ing at you thinking your pissing yourself, man that doesnt sound like fun to me but it sounds like you enjoyed it. lookin forward to the rest.

One of the best journals i've read for a while m8! Loved the tripping part about the 'phantom piss' and having to spend the trip with yer toes curled up LOL! Glad you had a good time.

Your lucky mate. Couple of years ago my mates were in the dam and one of them actually pissed themselves didnt realise and he was walking about for about an hour before my other mate noticed. Talk about a "Phantom Piss"

420 does not sell alcohol. A parcel came last night that jogged our memories, so I remember now that the very first coffeeshop was called Free Adam and I bought 2g of Amnesia lol. Day 2 to come later.
