amsterdam at christmas

does anyone know what its like there over xmas? im planning on staying over there a few days over the christnmas period but havent been before is everything still open is it gonna be really busy? do i need to book a room in advance?

Most things are open, no it's not very busy and I reckon you could get a room without booking but I always would just to be sure.

Visited Dam many a few times at christmas, which i really like, all the decorations in CS etc, around dam the buzz is festive but not touristy... i like this time. Everything open, shops CS, as Boner said i'd book hotel in advance tho.

Watch out for the firworks if staying at new years!
