Personal favourite coffee shops?

Post by JimJ »

I am wondering what your personal favourite shops are and why? 3 mates and I wll be going on tuesday and last time I went we just sat in 2 places and bought some cake from another (with an eye logo - still open? was good cake...). This time I feel I should sample some more.
I'll be in de kuil to start with as I fell in love with the place. If anyone recommends anywhere in particular then I would love to try.

Thanks

3- Homegrown Fantasy - cheese cheese and more cheese! yes please! oh and the missus loves the biscuits u get with the tea!

4- Grey Area - if only for the bud, never stay in there to smoke.

5 - Lost in Amsterdam - i know its not a c/s but when u got ur herb n want a drink to wash it down with, then this is the place! seating is the best!

1. katsu (I cant get enough of the black widow and i love local coffeshops)
2. 4:20 - the best to chill with excellent music and some neville haze
3. Barney's lounge : lounge ambiance, very cosy and the dealer is a super friendly and careful one. and of course excellent weeds
4. Grey Area : no need to present it i think
5. hunters : what a menu they have and the staff is cool as well

well I can also add amnesia if i cant make it to barneys lounge but i got a fair deal in a hotel close to it so I prefer to chill there than at amnesia
the rokerij 2 is a nice place as well for the style of it (and a bit of shiva at 7 or 8.50€ i dont remember)

hmmm...

barneys (harlemmerstraat),
rokerij(s),
dolphins,
rusland,
bulldog (especially bulldog palace)*
global chillage (this is now extinct  )

* = the bulldogs get a bad reputation on here. i havnt read single review by anyone else saying they like it.
i know that bulldogs attract, piss heads, stag do's, first timers and generally the opposite of stoners. and i know the weed is not that great. BUT:
a) some times when you fancy a lively bar type atmosphere, these places are ideal
b) the amnesia haze a few months back suprisingly was really good.
c) they are ideally placed, RLD and leidseplien.
d) they all have a bar area attached, so you can get a pint and bring it into the coffeeshop area and vice versa.

we often go to one esp the palace, in the evening. in fact we sepent one of the best ever evenings in dam upstairs in the bulldog palace. the place was rammed everyone dancing, we were drinking tequila sunrises, and smoking loads of weed we'd brought with us. music was a bit cheesy but fuck it, we were loving it at the time...

Bulldogs are fun - Evidence

CS Little, which is a few meters South of Mellow Yellow, a personal favorite. They're even open at 8:00am 7 days a week.

yeah ive been there since, "happy feelings", got a bubble gum joint, but its not the same.

used to love the murals in there, and if you were lucky to be there at the right time, they had a live DJ playing amazing chill music.

dont get me wrong happy feelings is ok, but not in my top 5.

Mellow Yellow!
why? because they sell some of the best weed in town for some of the best prices you will get for this quality. I am a haze lover, and beside the Dampkrings they (and Noon) have the best hazes in my opinion.
Dampkring is a must-visit, try the one from the movie, they have a cat in there which is always cool to look at when totaly wasted , and they sell some of the best weed you will get in town, very reasonable prices.

I am stuck to those two chains (Mellow Yellow and Noon are a chain for me, at least since the owner will open a new shop in Utrecht).

There are so many shops, just have a look through all the shops listed on this site, get an idea of what you want and what you want to see......thats how I got to see Dampkring and MY. For Dampkring it was because of their huge menu which is incredible and for MY it was because it was the first shop in Amsterdam.....after I visited them the weed/hash quality/price and the atmosphere(friendly dealer, nice people hanging out) were the reason to come back again and again and again and again :)

That surprises me considering what you said regarding the samples you wrote about in your trip report?
