November 5th - 14th

We have arrived!!

We left Orlando Florida on the 4th (after voting) and arrived around noon on the 5th. First stop (still with luggage) Route 99. We chose the Bubble Gum @ 12 euro for 2g. They have change the dealer table downstairs and encased the upstairs. It was a big sign to us that things have definitely changed since the smoking ban went into effect. Still it was so good to be back. After having a chat with the nice lady budtender we started the adventure that would be finding our apartment.

We got into our apartment, which is in the Javaplain area and got settled in. Later we stoped over at the Bulldog Energy to pick up a little supply while we were visiting a friend how works at the hotel. I got 3g of Purple Haze for 12 euro. When I went back over to the hotel my friend asked what I got. When I told her what I got, she mumbled something in Dutch, grabed it out of my hand and took it back over. When she returned she had 2g White Widow, she said the Purple Haze tasted like shit. It's good to have friends to look out for you.

So the new day is just dawning, Think we want to get over to Mellow Yellow today, as on the last trip we really enjoyed their stuff. Who knows where the day will take us.

If anyone has any tips on shops or strains let us know and we'll check it out.

Well, we did not make it to Mellow Yellow yesterday. Really, after my post we went back to bed and slept for another 6 hours. When we did get up and going the sun had come out and it was beautiful outside. We went down to Waterlooplain (forgive the spelling) to the Bagels and Beans for coffee. The coffee they make there is the closest that we can find to what we get at home. After walking the market we headed over to Bluebird an purchased 1.5 grams of Amnesia Haze for 12.5 euro. We stayed to sample the smoke which was good, and not too heavy. If you can believe it that was the only Coffeeshop we went to all day. Aside from that we went to the grocery store, and later in the evening we went out to dinner with a friend to a great tappas restaurant called Paso Doble. It was delicious, but on the pricy side. Today we are hoping to hit a few more Coffeeshops. We have one right down the street called Stud, we must check that out.

If you happen to be in Dam Square, there's a coffee house (Coffee Factory, it's called, maybe?) on the northwest corner of the square which serves a U.S.-style coffee called, ingeniously enough, "Americano."

Nice pictures. Have fun.

Another slow day. We didn't leave the house till around noon. Now that we have mastered the grocery store, going out every time we need nourishment seems to be a thing of the past, however it is keeping us from venturing into the city for long jags. Being able to smoke in the apartment is also very nice, but means we can now get our supply for the day from one or two shops, and smoke it all at 'home'. Today hopefully we will get around a little more, perhaps to try some of the recommendations posted. BTW thanks for the info!

We did make it to Mellow Yellow yesterday.I was disapointed they did not seem to have Pot of Gold (which was on my list). So we got Super Silver Haze (a favorite from last trip) at 10 euro per gram. Also I got some hash for 6 euro per gram (I missed the name). Sorry my pictures are not that great, I took them with my iPhone.

In the evening we went to a party across town. Our friend was working the event, and got us on the VIP list. We had a good time, but if you can belive it, it was a NO weed smoking event! So even though it went on till 5 am, we had left by 2:00 (which is when it was just starting to get going). We took a taxi home. It was our first time in a taxi in Amsterdam, not that's what I call a thrill ride!

Is that pinball machine in Mellow Yellow by any chance?. Just that I do love a game of pinball when ever I see a table.

The name has changed. Pot of Gold is now called S5. I thought I posted that around here on the board somewhere. Maybe not.
S5 was a 2 time 1st place winner, took 3rd in another category and was the overall winner of the HighLife Cup for 2008. The 2008 Highlife Cup results are HERE. What I have learned is...it never hurts to ask. Sometimes weed can be off the menu but the shop will still have it in stock. I found this to be true in several shops. Bummer you didnt get to try it. It's a really nice smoke. Next time. Peace.

Well, we did a little better yesterday. It was colder, but not rainy. The wind was killer however. Just perfect for walking & shopping, with an occasional stop for a smoke and a tea. And that is just what we did.

We started with a tram ride to Waterlooplein for coffee and bagel. From there we walked to the Waag to head to a shop we really enjoyed on a previous trip, Hill Street Blues. We purchased Cheese at 13 euro for 1 gram, which I thought was a little pricy. It was good, but nothing special. It was also kinda crowded being Saturday afternoon, so we just had a quick puff and headed out.

We walked and talked, and window shopped all the way into the Jordaan, and I remembered a Coffeeshop I had wanted to visit last year. La Tertulia was a quiet place on a corner in Princengracht. It was not busy, and the older lady working the dealer table was very nice. Also the music was very chill. It was a nice change from the frat guys in the Centrum. We had Hash Plant Haze at 12 euro for .9 gram. I have never seen .9 grams for sale. The younger girl had to leave the shop to go get it. It was a nice and mellow buzz, but the surroundings might have had a lot to do with that.

After that we walked more, looking for a little traditional Dutch cafe we visited on our first trip. We eventually gave up, and stopped into Blues Brothers for a warm up. We got 1 gram of White Widow at 10 euro, peppermint tea, and the seat in the window, which is an awesome place to people watch on a Saturday evening.

We took the tram to Rembrantplein with intentions to go to Coco's, but they were packed so we headed around the corner to Pinochhio's. We had pizza, it was different but good. First time I have had green olives on pizza.

We stopped quickly at The Green House on our way into the Centrum because I wanted to see if they had Arjan's Ultra Haze #2, which they did, and I got 1 gram for 12 euro. We headed over to the Bulldog Hotel to hang out while our friend was finishing her shift. Later while we were all hanging out at the bar in the back some guy who was ordering a drink had a whitey and fell on the floor. It was so funny the expression on the guys face never changed. He was laying there on the floor comatose waiting for his absinthe. We headed back to the apartment shortly after that.
