In Amsterdam January 4th - 8th

I just joined last week, and I have an introduction letter in that area. I joined because my oldest son and I are going to be in Amsterdam from Jan 4th till the 8th, then we leave for Paris. We are going to be landing in the Dam early Am, and I am hoping we can check in our bags at the hotel and go get a good sativa up buzz and a good cup of coffee.

We are going to go to all the museums of course, but we do want to get a lot of CS time in. I am a huge sativa fan, and Ive had some high power canadian before, and I wonder how the Dam compares. I enjoy indica for relaxing.

Another question. Are there ample places to smoke tobacco (I know there is an indoor ban) Are there places other than the coffeeshops that it is safe to smoke the "other" tobacco? We are nice folks and we want to be sure to be polite in local customs, so all input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch and hope to chat with all of ya -dave :)

Hi Dave, I'm sure you'll love it.

Tobacco smoking is illegal indoors, except for in designated smoking areas. A lot of CS however ignore the tobacco ban, but ask you to be discrete about it. Simply ask when you walk in and they will advise you on their policy.

I'm sure you'll find the Sativa's more than suitable for you...

I fly home on the 4th leave about 7.30pm, what time do you arrive?

I remember doing the time warp

We arrive at 8:30 AM. That could work out if your day isn't too busy getting ready to depart, I was hoping there will be some here we might meet up with. I am also hoping we could make a day trip to Brugges in our 4 days there, if that is a feasible day trip. Its my wife's family's hometown.

Thanks a lot for the reply, Yeah I am expecting the sativas to be hi-powered for sure. If you or anyone with favorite or best strains, favorite coffeeshops or anything, let me know. Also I am really curious as to what cheese is (as in weed) I've never heard of it.

We will be staying at the IBIS Centre hotel by the Station. It looked like a decent locale to see everything from.

thanks all -dave

Personal recommendations can be found in my trip report from August -

https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5859

I was particuarly keen on the following Sativa's - Super Silver Haze (SSH), Laughing Buddah, Amnesia Haze, Resin Haze, Silver Bubblegum, Mako Haze and Arjan's Ultra Haze #2. I am also a huge permanent fan of Diesel, and buy that as my regular weed, as well as orangebud.

Cheese is a lovely earthy Indica. An absolutely wonderful buzz, not total couch lock, and it is essential to have some indica on you if you are smoking mainly Sativa's, because sometimes you just get too high and need to come back down to earth for a bit.

Although Cheese is fantastic, and I always get a bag, I also love Blueberry Cheese, which is a combination of 2 indica strains, Blueberry and Cheese. None of these Indica's I have mentioned are particuarly heavy, so they are the ideal accompaniment for a Sativa smoker.

Overall, they would make a fantastic list of smokes, but there are so many more that I haven't tried, although if you read that trip report, you'll see I did have a go at trying to smoke them all!!

The other things is that the quality and supply of the various strains changes almost daily, so a really good batch could only last a relatively short period of time, so while you can take it as a guide, you always have to inspect the gear yourself in each shop to make the right choice.

You might consider spending 4 hours or so in Brugge on your way to Paris. Otherwise it's a pretty big day-trip from either city.

Have a great trip.

I second that. Brugge or Bruges is very cool. Although I haven't been there since 2000. Last trip we did the train from Amsterdam to Paris. It took just less than 4 hours if I remember right. Not too bad, as we got in Paris around noon.
