Keep red light district, says trade chamber

Thursday 13 November 2008

Amsterdam’s red light district is one of the city’s biggest tourist draws and must retain its erotic character, according to a report by the capital’s chamber of trade.

The report says 26% of tourists visit the red light district and the establishment of an erotic nightclub with international allure would boost its popularity still further.

The city council is in the middle of a major clean up operation in the area and has shut down a number of brothels and sex clubs.

Amsterdam is destroying itself...

Has anyone seen what they did in most of the windows in the main street? They put some dresses in it. Now I wonder how someone can destroy such a unique atmosphere even if it is not "morally acceptable" for some.

Amsterdam was a role model that showed how you can solve best as possible the problem of prostitution. And the problem of Magic Mushrooms. And the problem of Cannabis... I am really afraid that the Coffeeshops will be history in a few years too...

their power rests on a coalition with a minority party, labour only lost power after the party's liberal guilt complex forced them to quite, let's hope the dutch spirit return them to power next time round after they see how their unique horeca culture is being destroyed by religious nutjobs

This is true. But then one should blame it on the true majority. Cause it is in their hands.

And so the circle continues. When everyone finally realises that they themselves are the cause of all the problems in the world, yes each of us is the cause of every world problem, then we will stop ourselves and heal the world.

All will join together as one brotherhood of man, as God intended, not as the crazy religious zealots have managed to drives us, down and apart. Divide and Conquer.

Hey, if we all make an effort, to resolve the issue, then this will affect others who will make a change, it will engulf the whole world, but it starts with one person. It starts with YOU.

I always get so charged with the love of God and life and my brother man when I am high :)

Consequently my nickname is Jesoos at work, and I bear a striking resemblance to the much accepted image of Christ, however innacurate it may be :)
