My October Amsterdam Trip

Post by hulldj »

Time I did my lill report from my last trip to Amsterdam. What a nice spaced out time I had. Thanks to my wonderfull Girlfriend for letting me go alone again. Bless her. 2 weeks after I got back she flew me to Spain as a suprise for a week so been a bit busy travelling to get this report up earlier. ;)

Well, I was djing till 2am on the sunday night/Monday morning 12-13/10/08 and had tickets for the early morning flight to AMS from Leeds Bradford. Flights were £110 return and I flew back on the last flight on the Thursday night.

Staying at the Hotel de Mallemoolen http://www.koopermoolen.nl/mallemoolen.html
in the single room overlooking the Warmoesstraat and Concious Dreams.

I have stayed here on a previous occasion and found the facilities to be clean, cheap and breakfast is thrown into the 65 euro per night price. Great!!!

Some may find staying on the Redlight a bit intimidating but as long as you watch your pockets you should have no problem.

Arriving into Schipnol around 9am I was onto the Train into Central, and straight into Central Coffeeshop and that big box of delights. Completely forgetting what I bought I trundled to the Hotel which was only a minute away to try and be cheeky to check in v early. Unfortunately the room wasnt ready so I stored my bag and nipped out to either Pick up the Pieces or Free Amsterdam.. Again, bit blurry and ive since lost my list... (well its somewhere in a case I thinks... will edit when its found) dropping into BABA headshop for a lighter and some skins on the way.

In whichever coffeeshop I stopped in I asked if tobacco was ok to be told a definate no. This buggered me up a bit as I'm useless at rolling without my mat (which was in my bag) so I did my best to roll a stub that started out the length of a big rizla and ended up about an inch of smokable doobie.. lol.. Smoked that and stumbled out of the shop to head back to check in.. 10.30am and I'm checked in and sat overlooking the Warmoesstraat with the radiator on and checking out the bad lads on the street below me. Sitting there for only bout half an hour and I see my first crime of the week.. Pickpocket team very slick in their cracked up state robbing 2 businessmen of their wallets.

All settled in and seeing that its the same guys pickpocketing and dealing in the street from my last trip I now know who to avoid!!

Just a quick note... If you eat at the Chinese Takeaway on the Warmoesstraat called Surinaams be very aware that 80% of the people I saw go into here had something stolen from their person. Hazard to say I never went in.. lol.. If you dont know which one I mean then here's a pic. Its the Chinese next to Concious Dreams - http://hullhost.co.uk/g2/main.php?g2_itemId=810

Pretty much stoned it was time for a walk round so I head off to Hunters for a coffee and more smoke. Picking up some NYCD I ask about the tobacco ruling and was told again that its a definate no no. Luckily I had my mat and rolled a nice phat one with the NYCD, enjoying my coffee and the atmosphere. Nice to see the internet terminals working at the back of the shop so I sat for half hour chatting to the lads back home.

From here I wandered over to Route 66/99 opposite Prix D'ami to see how the place looks now they have moved the dealer and bar to downstairs with tobacco upstairs. Grabbed a coffee and some of their Jack Herrer and went to sit upstairs which was empty barring a small group of 4 people all looking very red eyed and happy. Loved the room and the big imposing glass doors.

By now I was knackered from lack of sleep and too much green so sleep time came when I got back to the hotel.

Waking up about 8pm, rolled up the last of the Jack and smoked that then I headed out for a pint of Gulpners at Nes and sat outside as it was a warm evening smoking the rest of what i had left enjoying the freedom.

After a couple of pints and smokes I headed back via AH for some snacks and coke. Sitting at the window I again witnessed another theft, a poor Very drunk bloke looking for his wallet for like 10 mins, muttering to himself that he wasnt drunk then propmtly fell off his bike and dropped all his food from Surrinams all over the floor, but still not finding his wallet. Saddened by the fact that there are so many pickpockets but amused at how drunk the victim was I hit the sack and into oblivion awaiting my next day.

I have uploaded my pics here http://hullhost.co.uk/g2/main.php

Day two coming........

Well, Ive sat here for the last hour trying to remember where Tuesday went and all I can remember is waking around 930, finishing off the half joint in the ashtray, heading to Concious dreams for a punnet of mushrooms then waking up on wednesday... I had new weed and some hash but completely lost Tuesday.. My feet were killing so I must have had a good trip.. lol

So my entry for Tuesday says

TUESDAY.... I did Mushrooms!!

lol

My Ocotober Trip continued....

Post by hulldj »

Wednesday

Well after a great trippy Tuesday I was rudely awoken at 5am by a motorbike/scooter thing doing donuts outside my room.. I must have slept with the window open for some air, grrr... Sparked up a smoke and sat at the window watching a group of lads making a right racket. Luckily the smoke put me over into a nice deep sleep till about 9am. Got up, had breakfast (coffee and toast), showered then went for a wander. Plans for the day was to check out the cannabis museum and the vape there, Beer at Nes and then a nice stoned walk round Haarlemmerstraat and check out Barneys Uptown. Things dont seem to go quite to plan as usual and ended up walking to Rookies.. lol. Picked up some Rookies Haze/special, I think, a coffee and sat outside watching the world go by for an hour. Nice enough smoke, Left there heading back to find Haarlemmerstraat and stopped at Noon for some BB, Quick purchase then i was back to getting lost on my way to Barneys Lounge, the one with a single table outside looking out on a canal. I had the red cherry berry and that tripped me out nicely. After a couple of bottles of coke I was back on my travels with plenty of green stocked up. Looking on THE MAP i noticed Stix wasnt too far away so next visit was for some Temple Ball.

Unfortunately I walked right past Stix, knowing this when I saw Rembrantplein and Bushdocs. Oh well, next trip maybe.

By this time I was fancying a beer and with Nes not too far away (and me knowing how to get there) this was my next destination. Gulpners and a couple of smokes in the outside seating area and I was ready for a rest back at the hotel. Stopping at Hunters on the way to use the internet to catch up with the boys at work. Remembering about the cannabis museum I turned about and strolled back up and round the corner to the nearest one on Oudezijds Achterburgwal. This was a small museum with many interesting facts and a gorgeous aroma of the plants in the back. My main aim was to try the vape but after all I had smoked that day I bottled out of talking to anyone.. lol.... Time for sleep my head was telling me.

Woke around 6pm, red cherry berry hit and headed out for some tea well battered!!, All going a bit hazy but I think I had a cheese toastie from somewhere, but cannot remember where and posted 3 cards back to the uk with 1g of hash in each I bought from Central. (The cards arrived 5 days later)

Thursday

Check out day!!!

Got up and breakfasted, checked out and left my luggage in the hotel lock up knowing my flight back to UK wasnt untill gone 9pm.

Made it to Haarlemmerstraat and Barneys Bras. The place was nearly empty, the helpful and very cheerful girl behind the counter asked if I wanted any weit as they dont sell it there. I told her I was stocked up and being my last day I had plenty to smoke. Ordered a coffee and went to sit outside to people watch. then the heavens opened... Rain and hailstone the size of golfballs!!! I stayed for another coffee and chatted to the friendly girl on the counter.

I had a walk up/down Haarlemmerstraat took some pics then had the fantastic idea of getting to the airport early.... I vow never ever to get the late flight back home... Picked my stuf up from the hotel and headed to Central Station, saying a quiet goodbye to Amsterdam for 2008. I arrived at schipol at around 3pm... with 6 hours to wait.... after 2 hours I regretted going early... so bored.. lol

My flight home finally came around and so ended my second solo Amsterdam experience for 2008..

So Looking forward to January when we ferry it from Hull with around 30-40 of the staff from 2 pubs I dj in and hopefully looking to book with 2 mates may/june and if the missus lets me, a solo trip, depending on cash as its saving time for us for our 2010 wedding.

Wishing you all a very merry xmas and all the best for a smoked out 2009!!!

I use a rolling mat, but only to rest my rizla in while building a spliff. I have no idea how to actually roll with it
