I can personally tell you, Bonglord is still very involved in Boxing, and mentoring, at risk youth, in his boxing program.
He is old school boxing, he see's it as pure, I on the otherhand enjoy
the shear brutality of MMA.
I understand where he is comming from, Bonglord dedicated himself to the finesse of boxing, he ate, breathed, and shit boxing, only boxing, nothing but boxing.
Tapia called him out of retirement to help get him ready to fight,
So Bonglord is respected in the boxing community.
Last year @ his cannabis cup, we had 2 Japaneese guys showing Pride Fights....we were all making fun of all sorts of things....and we were having a great time.
My point being its all in fun.......dont take this shit so seriously.
My question.....How do you feel about American Football as compared to Rugby...alot of people think American football is less a sport then Rugby.

My bad Bong. I am involved in martial arts heavily, as is my 6 year old daughter. You remind me of my older brother, we argue about this topic all the time. I was a HUGE boxing , and I mean HUGE, up until 1993. That is when they had the first UFC. I gave up on boxing around 2001-2002 for some odd reason(Pride FC) LOL. Really sorry for being a asshole and coming at you like I did. It was uncalled for and I apologize. I understand your stance on boxing vs mma. I am with you on many points about the flaws that are in mma, like people who can actually box in the damn sport. I know more than 3/4 of mma fighters boxing sucks but this sport is so new that we really haven't witnessed a COMPLETE fighter who can do it all. There are some but not to many.USBONGLORD wrote:if you have no money you have no carreer...ya fight when ya can..and ya take yer win with yer losses..ive fought in barns and civic centers..doesnt matter a fight is a fight....i have a good time and so should you..iwas having fun....i still will..luvtivk knows, bluelaru knows...a few others that know me know..you dont..theve seen me fight ,but you dont have to beleive..the problem is i remember..and thats a hell of a lot of pain ..and gleeeeeeeeeeee....now the look at me..aw fuck so what..thats me..deal or hate me...but i dont hate you...and wipe off whatever ya threw up saying whatever the fuck thelast word of yer post was...it gonna stain the table
To knock anyone who competes in any combat sport ,no matter what it is, just came off as disrespectful to me. Hard to tell if someone is telling the truth via the net about there fighting history. Like I said before I really am sorry for being a dick. I love boxing, I really do, but it not what it used to be. After Ricardo Lopez retired I stopped watching for some strange reason. I wrestled than got into boxing, judo, mt, etc. so maybe that is why I love mma so much who knows. Anywhoo good to hear you mentor kids through boxing. Thats actually what I would like to get into but with mma. Nothing beats giving back especially to those kids who don't have direction in life, and I know because I was once one myself.

Being from Chicago, which is football crazy, I feel it's a sport just like any other but rugby is much tougher to compete in. Running into other men at full speed with no pads! Ouch! I 've done it myself and it's no joke. I lived in Perth, WA as a kid for a few years and participated in Aussie rules so I've basically done both, plus I played Irish football my whole life here in Chicago. My father is from Ireland and he started his own Irish football club here in the early 80's. So this is what we did every Sunday from May to September. We ate, breathed and slept Irish footbal and not by choice smell me.
Personally I don't like American footbal at all. I think Rugby/Irish football/OZ rules are much tougher sports to compete in when compared to American football. My father actually played Irish football until he was 46 years old but he was very lucky when it came to getting injured. He rarely did.

Aussie rules football is a great sport. Some real Athletic skills and stamina all combined are needed to compete. The pitch it is played on is massive. Too bad no one cares about it much outside Australia. Actually you could say outside Melbourne but that is not strictly true as there are teams from further afield.

whilst we are veering completely off subject, I much prefered the very early days of MMA, where you had genuine mixed martial artists battling with very littel ref intervention, i remember being disapointed to see the wrestlers nearly always whooping the boxers and the little kung fu guys once they got in close, put paid to the myth of the one hit karate punch too, anyone ever seen one yet, there was a tall skinny kung fu vs a big fat wrestler, you had tai chi vs karate, thugs vs oriental cunning buggers etc...gruesome by current MMA standards but very very interesting..it all feels a bit corporate and sponsor driven now, loads of the fighters seem so similar in style/training, prefer the brutal but more 'real' early days..
