Dam trip - 27-29th November 08

Post by DroolingLiver »

Hello everyone,

just got back from a two day break over at the Dam. The guy I went with isn't that much of a smoker, but I made sure I dragged him along to a good few places and sampled some delights! Here's a list of the coffeeshops I visited and weed/hash I smoked.

Day 1

Sheeba's

Yep, smack bang in tourist zone, but I've been there before , liked it and has some very nice Super Silver Haze, so in passing thought it would be a good place for the first smoke.

It's changed on the inside now. Two separate rooms splitting it into a front and back. Bought a gram of Red Lebanese (I think red) and one gram of Mango Haze.

Went to the back and grabbed a seat and rolled up a joint with the hash. This was exactly the kind of stone needed for the late afternoon/early evening. Uplifting, cerebral and relaxing without being too mongy.

The place is ok, everyone kind of sits in a circle so you see lots of people face on. TVs everywhere showing a Bob Marley concert.

My friend bought two cokes. About €3.60 each!!

New Dampkiring

Never been over to this section the Dam before. I liked it very much as it is quieter than the main RLD, more relaxed and well, more "upmarket".

Bought two grammes of LA confidential and two grams of a Riffman hash. Which one I'm not sure, so any knowledge will be appreciated, but I think it was called Dalahi Alab. The description was that of an intense body stone.

Got the stuff and went up to the top floor. Grabbed a seat looking straight out the window with a view of the road. A bit of a slightly older, certainly more mature, relaxed crowd.

Smoked here a pre rolled joint of the Mango Haze from Sheeba's, followed by one of the LA confidential.

The Mango Haze again was a good high for that point in time. A nce, strong sativa without too much of the racing thoughts. The LA confidential was not as strong as I was expecting but certainly a good, solid relaxing indica.

At one point here we were surrounded by people, then, as soon as the guy to our left got up to the go, did the guy to our right then another guy in front of us. Within the space of 10 seconds the room was nearly empty. In that stoned state you start wondering if they were spying on you!

Ben's

Passed this seldom talked about place on the way back to to the hotel. Nipped in and got one gramme of Amnesia Haze and went to the back which is a separate room, softly lit with a fishtank!

Smoked a joint of the haze, but after all the other stuff I just felt higher! We totally overstayed our welcome and the guy had to ask us to leave. I liked this place but my friend didn't like the way everyone was sitting around, able to look at each other like in Sheeba's.

Day 2

Grey Area

Got there at about 11:45 and there was already a queue of people which got bigger before opening. I just got two grammes of Grey Mist and two grammes of the unpressed trichomes and straight back to the hotel. This place is so small I don't think I would ever smoke there.

Andalucia

After a mammoth wander (isn't that always the way in the Dam), nipped into this place, got two grammes of 0-0 hash and went to the top floor.

Totally empty with a window view, Middle Eastern decor (the budtender looked Moroccan), a very nice place a for a relaxing smoke, which the 0-0 is. Nothing too strong and fairly cerebral. A decent Moroccan.

We got a couple of capuccinos in this place which were absolutely fantastic! Coffee lovers go to this place.

Homegrown Fantasy

We went to this place in the evening when it was packed and picked up a gramme of their Ice-o-Lator. Grabbed a seat next to some old grizzly hippy dude and rolled up.

I didn't put much in the joint as I know this stuff is strong. I could definitely feel it, a strong head high which kept creeping up on me.

At one point we were looking at a photo on the wall which was of a building we had seen the day before. We could see the hippy dude looking as were talking, desperate to join in. My friend could see this too and asked him if he knew what the building was. That was it! This guy just banged on and on non-stop, to the point I had no clue what the hell he was going on about and had to resist cracking up. He then started going on about graves and people being buried on top of each other as a way of conserving space. That was too much, I didn't need to hear that shit about dead people was I was getting higher so nipped off to the loo (cool dark lights!), got back, made our excuses and left.

Amnesia

Walked in this place and immediately liked it. Understated decor, soft lights, nice crowd.

I got a gramme of hash here, and again need your help. I thought I had a gotten some Nepalese, but since returing have looked at some menus and can't see it. Unless the menus haeve changed since, I figure I actually either got some Manali cram or Kasmir pollen. It's a soft, dark hash which crumbles up very easily and is a pretty uplifting smoke.

Here we also smoked some of the Grey Mist which just battered me! Now that's a string Indica! Managed to stagger back to the hotel and had a minute of terror/hilarity in the lobby as we desperately willing to call the lift before a family checking in could join us. Just made it!

All in all a great time. I would have liked to smoke more but still managed to squeeze a pretty decent selection. The only type I would have liked to try would have been one of the cheap outdoors grown varieties. Thos weaker strains can be a welcome change from the blow your head off usual ones.

A few other notes:

For the best reasonably priced munchy meal, head off to the burger place near Betty Boop's Lovely meat they cook in front of you and good chips too.

Every place we went into allowed tobacco to be mixed with the joints. They all said the same thing, be discreet and no cigarettes.

Made a couple of trips to the post office too and sent back (via DVD method) all the unsmoked gear. Posted on Friday and Saturday, both arrived the following Friday, just as I was losing hope. I think this lot will last me a good while!

For munchies either bring your own from home or head for the supermarket near Dam Square. I knew this from previous visits but still ended up getting some from a kebab shop one night. Something stupid like €12 for some crisps, chocolates and sweets.

And finally just a couple of questions. If anyone can help me with the identity of the Dampkiring and Amnesia hashes that would be appreciated. Neither of the names I had are on the menus I have seen online.

Also, is it ok to smoke the Ice-o-lator and Grey crystals in a joint? Or is it best in that method to just sprinkle some on some bud?

Thanks for reading and hope you found it informative. If anything comes to me I'll add it and if you have any questions just ask away.

HERE is the Dampkring Rifman hash menu. The rest of their menu is on the Coffeeshop Menus page. Maybe seeing the menu will trip your memory.

Thanks for the links but They don't seem to be there. I checked te menus from that site when I returned and no bellsa are ringing.

I'm thinking the one from Amnesia was the Manali Creme. However, the Dampkiring I went to was the new one, which I remember had a longer Rifman hash menu than the one from the link. The name was definitelt more that one word too.

Top notch report matey. Liked the easy to read format with all the coffee shops in bold. Made some notes for my next visit in a couple of weeks.

If you had to recommend one of the coffee shops you went to, which one would it be?

Thanks man. Going to the Dam when it's in full on Xmas mode, nice!

Which coffeeshop would I return to? Ben's. The last times I've visited the Dam Ive walked past it and not even thought about going in, so I was well surprised to find the comfy bit at the back. Perfect for an end of the night sess.

even after they kicked you out? what happened - I've never been asked to leave a coffeeshop, and if I was I wouldn't be reccomending it

Well, we weren't kicked out, just asked to leave. It was 1am, we were the last people there and they started tidying up. No hassle or anything so it was all cool.

in a response to your question of smoking iso-later and crystals in a joint. I doubt it can be done on their own, so you'll have to sprinkle it on some kind of medium. Weither it be weed or tobacco, what ever is your preference.

I managed to smoke a pure joint of Grey Mist Crystals one year but it was hard work keeping it lit and the crystals kept melting together, the effect was worth the effort though.
