You got that right!US Gallons and English Gallons are very different sizes.
An Imperial (or British Gallon) is 4.54609 (or simply 4.55 ) Liters, while a Yank Gallon is 3.785411784 (or simply 3.79) Litres.
We converted to metric when I was in grade school, so I still remember the Imperial system. I also knew the Yank system, since many of our products were from the US, and I wanted to compare which were the better bargain.
