So is there a sudden resurgance of Religious Moralistic bushiness going on in the NL ? Or ,is this about something else that isn't readily apparent to us Buitenlanders ?

what makes me laugh, every time i go into m local natwest branch (part of rbs) to pay in my wages they ask me if im interested in opening a savings account, the banks have made billions of pounds year in year out for the last 10 years or so, n now that they post losses of what in comparison is peanuts they have to go crawling to the goverment, not for a loan, as we would have to, but charity money. now how am i supposed to trust them with my money if they cant be trusted with their own? if dutch banks dont want to take money from the only viable business in the netherlands, what with the current economical situation, then all i can say is that holland must be booming. beggars cant be choosers! n just one more thing, we live in a multicultural europe we have no place for religion, so if its the christian democrats who are deciding this, then as a hindu, i wouldnt vote for them and only see them as beeing racist for not valuing my choice as a human being to worship whatever god i want! own goal netherlands!!!!!
dam aint the only place in nl

Postbank criticised for anti-cannabis move

Postbank criticised for anti-cannabis move
13 December 2008

The Postbank is closing down accounts held by people running 'coffee shops', the outlets which are allowed to sell small amounts of cannabis products. A bank spokesman says facilitating the trade in marijuana and hashish can no longer be considered responsible. From now on, the bank will screen new customers to check that they are not involved in the drugs trade. In a related move, sex establishments and prostitutes will only be allowed to remain with the Postbank if the have permits for their activities.

The Cannabis Retailers Union has condemned the Postbank for indulging in what it calls a hypocritically moralistic crusade. It notes that the bank is cancelling neither loans nor mortgages of people in the cannabis trade because this would cost it too much money.
