GRINDERS

Post by Doog »

Got a link to a site the other day for hash/weed grinders and I am keen to know more about them and how well they work from other users on the site who may use one regularly.

:D Thanks :D

I had one of the Original wooden SweetLeaf many years ago....loved it....still have that one along with a nice Aluminum Sweetleaf-style one, a Space Case-style one (these are the ones with the screen in them to kief the buds as you grind), and a couple plastic ones. The plastic ones work, but my fav has to be the space case style ones. Nice to always have some kief around to top bowls with.

Kief the buds? Not sure what that means. Please tell.

The site I got the link for had the Space Case grinders and they certainly looked the most impressive (also the most expensive) and they can grind solid and weed so they would probably be the best option.

kief = unpressed trichomes = Grey Mist Crystals (Grey Area) = Gunpowder (from Stix CS)

basically unpressed hash. Hash is made of the trichomes (the "crystals") from the plants. They are many ways to get the trichs, and many ways to process them once you have them.

Kief (imo) just refers to un-processed trichomes that have been gathered thru a "dry-sift" process. In this case the "dry-sift"ing occurs inside the middle chamber on the grinders with screens. The herb is boken up and falls onto the screen. When shaken gravity pulls the tiny and dense trichs thru the screen and leave the bulk of the vegatative matter on top of the screen.

I could go on and on if you like?? :P

Soace Case brand ones are very expensive IMO and not really worth their price because here i can get no-name knock offs for less than half the Space Case price......the Space Case one are VERY nice tho, everything fits and looks amazingly well...the knock off doesn't look as good and has some minor machining blemishes...not a prob for me.

 Tried to quote you but can't seem to grasp that particular concept yet.

 Feel free to go on and on. Expert advice always appreciated.

For me, having a grinder handy in the Dam would be a big plus and I think the Space Case ones would be the best to go for. The machining problems with the cheaper no name grinders could present me with a problem and problem is defintely one word that you shouldn't use to describe your stay.

Hope to get one soon so that I can have a few chances to test it at home before my next trip.

glad to help.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kief is the Wikipedia page for Kief, lots of good accurate info and lots of links to other quality info as well. Those articles probably explain much more clearly than i can. Feel free to ask any particular questions you might have...i enjoy spreading (and aquiring) the knowledge.

Don't bring grinders and pipes back and forth from the States, you are just asking to get hassled if you do. Grinders run like 4 euro, just pick one up when you get there and give it to someone before you leave.

Considering how cheap grinders (and weed in general) are over there, I don't see the need to press your luck that you won't get some over-zealous prick in customs (and while it may not be illegal, that doesn't mean you won't get hassled for it). Shrug. In the end, it is up to you whether you care to take it. You asked what we thought on the matter, I told you. Shrug.

Cheap is a relative term. Can you find them there, more than likely. Non-kif catching grinders are a dime a dozen. I have never searched for grinders with catchers, but considering the prevelance of all things to do with smoking, I assume so. You really can't walk ten feet without running into a coffeeshop or a headshop of some kind. Even the tobaccarias carry grinders and whatnot.

o.k. I was just curious because I just purchased one, and like any new toy I get a little crazy. Did the same when I got my Volcano. Apartment we are renting in A'Dam is non-smoking so I went nuts trying to find some where I could rent one.Being in the Dam I should not be so concerned about it I guess. This will be my 3rd. trip,so...jusy wait for another mont or so and I will be there and not worrying about much of anything
