Amsterdam dance parties to be drugs free
19 December 2008
The organisers of dance parties in Amsterdam must ensure their events are drugs free or face losing their licences, the city council's executive board said on Friday.
Even though dance events are of cultural and economic importance to the city, drugs should not be a part of this, the council said.
Event organisers must, therefore, make sure they have proper security checks and people caught with hard drugs should be handed over to the police, the council said.
News agency ANP says the public prosecution department is drawing up guidelines to ensure all dance parties are treated in the same way.
The department is expected to publish recommendations on hard drugs possession along the lines of the situation with soft drugs in March, ANP says.
Although cannabis is not legal, the possession of up to five grammes is not prosecuted.

Brilliant plan!
Not only would the majority of dance events be completely pointless drug-free, but the enforcement of such genius creates many problems (as above)
So instead of a mature stance (tolerance and drug-testing stations) you will have kids popping all their pills before they enter the premises and then have to spend the rest of the night 'drug-free' by drinking beer.
Hope they're also planning an increase in health expenditure

there are well know proplems associated with drug searches. If someone has 3 pills, and would gradually take them over the course of the evening, and sees people being searched for drugs he may well just take all 3 at once so he doesnt have to carry them past the search. he will still get into the club, and will be far more fucked up than if he'd taken them at say, hourlyt intervals.
No Victim? No Crime.

your right there, its gonna cause all sort of problems, people are still gonna take drugs, but this new action is gonna mean it'll be more dangerous for those taking them.Ash333 wrote:there are well know proplems associated with drug searches.
