Only in Amsterdam I think.

News item today. Dutchies have spent 64 million Euros on fireworks for new years. Bring your armor if you're coming.

Today it is cold. The coldest it's been since I moved here a few years ago. I saw ice on the Singel and I think by tonight it might stretch across to the other side. On TV they are showing that many shallow ponds and lakes are freezing enough to skate on for the first time since 1997. If it keeps this cold there is even the possibility of the 11 city race and skating on some canals in Amsterdam. It needs to stay -2 and colder for another week or so which it may. The Dutch get very excited about this and take time off from work to go and skate. Don't be surprised to find some closed signs here and there because of this.

This morning I went to a big hotel on the Spui to meet up with a ganjatour guest. He was from eastern europe and a nice guy. He had just got to town the day before and told me he scored some dried mushrooms right down the street from his hotel(hint hint) the day before and tripped like a mf last night. He still had 3 doses left. So we headed out for the day and even though cold as shit we had a nice time touring the Jordaan and the Oude Zuid before heading back for the centrum. On the way back I decided to take him by the Hemp Hotel so we could smoke one and warm up a bit. We ordered our coffees in the basement bar, lite a joint and started warming up. A few minutes later, two very cute 20 something girls from "near Cornwall" came in looking a little bummed out. They had just returned from the airport after finding out their flight is tomorrow and not today. STONERS, HA HA!!! They felt pretty stupid and blamed it on the weed. So they ask if there is another room available for tonight and are told the hotel is full. The nice lady at the desk called a couple of close hotels and they were full too. They are talking about tripping as long as they have another night in town anyway. So we get these two very friendly down and out girls good and stoned. I joked they could stay with me but my girlfriend might not approve of more then one. So one says to the other, well, I'm covered. Then it comes to me that the ganjatour guest is staying at a 3 star hotel by himself and probably has an extra bed. I am thinking, Dude, this is your lucky day because this dosen't happen except in the movies. I said to him, hey man, you must have an extra bed? He says, yeah it's a double. I look at the girls as they look longingly at him. He takes a long pause and says "I'm just planning on smokin alot today" and turns away. I shake my head sorrowfully at the girls. So we left them sitting at the bar still needing a place to stay and someone to party with. I got the guy back to his hotel and now my neck is sore because I am still shaking my head. Only in Amsterdam I think.

That guy turned down a once in a lifetime oppurtunity, thats the kind of shit you hear about in stories you hear in bars, except the guy gets with the girls. lol. give him a head shake from me too. disapointed in anyone who turns down sharing a bed with a 20-something chick!
