Middleaged Dammers
Hi,
My wife and I (in our early fifties) will be visiting Adam for the first time in March, we´ll be visiting museums etc as it is a "normal" holiday BUT I am a user of medical MJ so I´d like to combine the trip with visits to coffeeshops, seedshops etc.
My wife doesn´t smoke and she isn´t really looking forward to the weed part of the trip -any tips on coffeeshops that "cater to the elderly"?
Peace,
C1

First time then? Amsterdam is the fountain of youth. Expect to go home at least a few years younger then when you arrived. I have lived here for a few years now and am at least 15 years younger then when I got here.
The best thing about the Coffeeshop culture is that they accept everyone, even non-smokers. So she should have the same attitude and really enjoy the experience without the smoke. I do Ganjatours which is Cannabis AND culture. Sometimes we smoke alot, sometimes we site-see alot. Depends on the customers. You will be fine. Does the smell of cannabis smoke bother her? All coffeeshops will be a little smokey most of the time. Where are you staying? Need any advice on museums?

MH: The wife is cool, tolerates smoke but isn´t quite used to the "subculture" ie people being stoned, giggly etc. I lived in the US in the 70´s so weed is not new to me
I´m not sure where we´ll be staying exactly but somewhere central as I don´t walk very well and would like to be close to the main museums.
I feel young as hell...my legs are just aging more rapidly than my head!

One of my better memories of Amsterdam was an older woman old enough to be my mother or grandmother for that fact, just sitting in Siberie smoking a cone and reading a book. It was not til that point that I realized how great of a city Amsterdam really was. I would recommend that shop for ya. Nice and quiet from what I remember. Enjoy your trip and hopefully you can give us a trip report when you get back.
I always have a good feeling about Mellow Yellow....sorry to mention this shop in almost every thread here, but it fits so many people so well. I have spend a lot of time there and have seen everyone walking in there, young groups like ourselfes, falling of their socks from being so stoned, busines people coming from work for a joint and a coffee, rastas with hairs to the ground. It isnt very smokey in there as well, whenever we have been it was clean, of course it smells like in a coffeeshop, but there is always good air in the shop, maybe because it is so big, or just because they have a good air-condition.
But its like MH said, in most coffeeshops they will accept everyone. That doesnt go for the dick-heads in Amnesia of course.
coffeeshop Noon is always very quite and the black guy working there always seemed happy to me when he could talk with someone kind.

Am 63 and wife some what younger, have always felt comfortable in most of the shops I visit.
Wife also is non=smoker and has never been made to feel uncomfortable
Can't agree about Amnesia though as it has been my base for last three trips and have never had a problem.
We always do " touristy " things too and always have a great trip.

Old School and Proud of It.
I dont know if it was a bad day of the guy at Amnesia, but he was so rude, even though we tried to be as polite as we can, he tried to fuck us.....and the weed isnt as good as the price would suggest in my eyes, had some of the worst haze in my life in this shop.Twitch wrote: Can't agree about Amnesia though as it has been my base for last three trips and have never had a problem.
