4 of us went in total, which meant when we brought from a coffeeshop we would spend 200 Euro +. Amnesia and Dampkring people smiled when they saw us coming.Am writing from memory and a lil list of what I smoked, which can be found below. Doing it bit by bit while having a smoke, so excuse grammar/spelling. Photos to come, I got nice bud shots of everything I brought.
We stayed at the Crib Extreme Max B&B. (http://www.damcity.com/ An amazing apartment, probably the only place I shall stay in Dam again. Amazing location (Febo in Red Light/near Highway) and nice big, clean apartment.
Day 1
To start with, the 7AM flight was delayed for about 4 hours due to bad weather. We landed around lunchtime and got a taxi straight to outside The Grasshopper. Dont worry, I kept walking. We got to the apartment and met the man who gave us the keys. People were just leaving the apartment and gave us a couple of cheeky spliffs. We smoked these and then headed out.
The first shop planned was Dampkring but we settled upon Highway as we walked passed it and remembered how much we liked the LA Con last time. Upon seeing the LA Con I was not as impressed as last time, so I settled upon 5g G13 x Amnesia Haze. Really tasty bit of green, but I find the first bit purchased in Amsterdam always is. Neitherless, it was a nice bag. This was the first coffeeshop I had been in since the smoking ban. Discreet is the best way forward, provided you only use small amounts of tobacco.
Sufficently blazed, we take a stroll in the direction of Dampkring (Pink Floyd). Stopping off on the way for various sugary cakes from all the bakeries.
At the Dampkring we enter and look at the menu. We wanted NYC Diesel, but to our horror it was not on the menu. So 5g Cheese is decided upon. We venture up the 2 flights of stairs and above the entrance overlooking the street. This is when Amsterdam starts to kick in. I felt mashed, paraniod of greening out/being sick (even though I havent done it in 7 years of smoking). We stay for a few joints and pass around amoungst ourselves to sample the other strains.
Floating about we decide upon high grade. Off to Grey Area we go. As per usual the place is heaving. My friend refers to the que in Grey Area as like a 'Kosovan bread shop' (no racism implied). Anyway, we see that Martian Mean Green is on the menu. However, this deserves another paragraph later on in regards to the Grey Martian (Grey Areas cannabis cup entry). So I purchase 3.5g and continue looking. Remembering the love felt for the Golden Soles six months earlier, I decide upon a gram. Feeling enclosed, we venture onto Amnesia.
Again, first visit since the smoking ban. Last time I entered it was being remoddeled and only a counter with a menu. This time, it was finished. They have done a nice job, I like it alot in there. However, being busy everytime we entered, we didnt decide to stay. However, with the amount of money we spent as a group over the week, we didnt feel rude. I was second in line behind a friend, who brough 5g of the remaining 6g of Pink Kush. I didnt mind, they said more was on its way tommorrow. So I got 1g Pink Kush and 1g Hawaiin Haze. To be honest, I thought the haze was pretty standard. This could however, be due to the fact that Pink Kush was by far one of the tastiest buds I have ever sampeled. Very similar to the Purple Kush I got from Canada last year (which was a nice earthy type), but a lot more 'grapefruitier', pink to be specific. Much love was felt for this bud, so much so, I felt the need to smoke 16g total during the trip.
We then wandered around, probably saw some really interested things, but I dont remember what. We had to go to Styx to get Temple Ball. Definatley the best dark hash. It can make anytime, bedtime. As a group, I think we brought 20g. We were then told about the smoking ban and that we couldnt smoke joints, blah blah blah. So we head back to the apartment.
After exploring the apartment, getting settled we stick the kettle on and start another smoking session. This continued till about 11:30PM, at which point one friend had passed out on the sofa (due to the Temple Ball most likely). I wake him up and we contemplate going to Innovation In The Dam (Drum and Bass rave) at The Melkweg. Too high to jump about like nutters we decide to open a fresh pack of rizla and smoke the night away.
A good first day, only slightly impaired by the NYC Diesel being off the menu. With the strains brought though, I was more than happy. I knew one thing, more Pink Kush for tommorrow!
