Virgin Trip: Please Help Me Select My First Coffeehouse

Although many months away, I'm stoked about the Dam and am thoroughly into researching coffeehouses & other attractions.
Can you veterans recommend my first coffeehouse? I tend to enjoy a more laid-back, subdued atmosphere during the day (I'll be arriving in the city around the noon hour) as opposed to a loud, techno/DJ infused scene.
Base of operations will be the Greenhouse Effect Hotel.
I'm thinking one of the past Cannabis Cup winners.
Anyone care to suggest?
Thanks!

Hill Street Blues is close and maybe worth a shot. Good coffeeshops are to Amsterdam what good food is to Rome. I've found it's a lot harder to go wrong than it is to get right.
I'll defer to some of the more experienced (or better yet, local) ACD posters about combining:
A) Fantastic weed
B) Ample and comfortable atmosphere
C) Good music
This is quite a bit more challenging for me, I can usually find two out of the three, so far, haven't really found all three together, but then again, I am not a TECHNO fan, and the last time I was there last March, it was EVERYWHERE.

i would recommend something close by, that is normally what i do when i arrive.... find a good shop close by and goto town.
the greenhouse effect would be nice, and you can goto the bar and have drink while you smoke if you want as well.
stix is also quite close by and they normally have some good weed and hash.. its also a small shop, but its normally pretty chill, with everyone just relaxing and drinking a tea/coffee and smoking one... never really heard loud or crazy music while in there either.
420 is also another good chilled out coffeeshop.

What you are describing sounds first and foremost like Rojkerij II on Haarlemerstraat, chilled music, lights cool, fantastic decor, and of course Laughing Bouddha to get you going in the right frame of mind.
As Boners list, but I would add Rokerij II and Green Place too.
Those are 5 of the best (note: i did not say there are the best, just of the best)
I would not recommend Hill St Blues for weed, but I would recommend their fruit juices. Bring your own weed into there. Then saying that, their weed is mainly Indica, which is why I don't smoke it, but their SSH was nice last trip.

Brilliant! THAT sounds like a dream come true! I'm a huge beer fan (homebrewer and quaffer of great "Microbrews" here in America) and I've a DREAMED of being able to enjoy a fine beer at the bar while tokin' on a number.
Thanks for the tip!
Thanks as well to all the other posters; I've got my priority list started, however one or two days I'm just going to wander the streets to see which coffee shops fate leads me to.

Excellent suggestions for a relaxing daytime coffeeshop, Boner. Seems like just the places I'm looking for.
(P.S. I'm a Kevin Smith fan, too.)
