You may get a deal like that for groups after it's all broke down (pppn). I've checked their website, and I checked again tonight and they have no deals even close to that for a single person, don't even have anything cheap for the dates I'm staying (April 18th-22). Definitely if you have a group of 2-4 people, you can get a room for a good price.

I book the Youth Hostel Meeting Point. 2 mins from Central station and RLD, on Warmoestraat. Winter prices are €14 p.p.p.n weekdays and €18 p.p.p.n on weekends. There is also a smoking room, Heineken is only €3.60 a pint, and ham & cheese toasties are only €2.

I am always on a budget, and I love this hostel, the showers are nice too

Whats the deal with smoking in the rooms/dorms???

Someone speak up if I'm wrong, but I don't believe you can smoke in the hostel rooms. I know the pig has an outside smoking area and I think a room inside for people to smoke. I'm not sure about the youth meeting point, but I'm pretty sure you can't smoke in their rooms either. Probably another designated smoking room.

When i was over in october i stayed in both dam pigs. downtown had a small veranda with retractable canopy & that was the only place you could smoke. A few staff members weren't happy about it because they said the bar takings were down & the bar didnt have the same vibe anymore because people were mostly heading out to the veranda.

uptown. would let you smoke in the kitchen after a certain time at night, cant really remember what time...maybe 8ish

Still prefered the downtown though, they really should sort out a room indoors where you can smoke. Some partitions and an extractor fan, thats all thats needed.

Whether the situations have changed, i dont know.

I heard they took out the pool table and you can smoke in that room now. Was the pool table still there in October? (downtown)

yeah....spent a good few hours on that pool table

Then again i'll be staying at a friends place on my next trip so i dont suppose it matters

sweet deal. If i had a buddy to stay with over there, id make at least 2 trios a yr, and get them very high and buy some dinners for the kindness....but alas, I dont know anyone, heck i dont know someone in the next state i could stay with

has anyone checked out hotel my home on haarlemerstraat? its a cheap hostel i used to stay in with mates before i met the gf. never checked it out since as she wouldn't go for it imo. good enough tho. think some rooms have private, but even if not it's small enough to feel kinda private.

if you end up in room 308 or 309 (forgot exactly which one) - look under the weird radiator cover under the window. Before we left my mate taped his grinder that he bought with a couple of smokes ground up in (at least 7 diff strains in) under neath the hole at the top. We almost made it through stash but left a nice surprise for someone


edit - only 1 month old at time of writing be smooth smoke no doubt
