Congrats dude! Just posted about the same thing in the Travel Plans section!
However, being of French nationality removes most of the paper work!

Off to the Dam on Monday For a heavy week of interviews!

I hear you regarding tax & housing!

Found a studio for 1000€!! but, it was on Singel! Otherwise, i did see a couple places at 700/mo and cheaper, but a bit out of the center....

Most interesting I think was 30 sq meters at €770 at Amerbos...

You only live once and its fundamental to be HAPPY!

Good luck man, and hope we'll be meeting soon, as two locals in a c/s!

I hope so too, I really do :D

Also, looking further afield, I've found some places in Amersfoort, studio for €510/m, and it's about 55km/35 miles, about an hour by car.

Need to look into the logistics of it. If I get the job I am going anyway, but will need to get something sorted out quickly afterwards..

----Edit------

If people are looking at Haarlem, I have at last found some decent prices... Will post the link after my interview result next week... Need to make sure the one I have my eye on doesn't disappear!!

I'm curious as to your new role SR care to share ? or Not at this stage?
no worries either way.

I've been offered a couple fo roles in Netherlands over the years, but giving I'm working on summit else it wouldnt be fair to move the mrs there and then again shortly after.

Although tbh if my other move dont work this year I will look at moving to 'dam more seriously.

SR, contact undutchables, multilingual solutions, abroad-experiences, if you haven't done so already. They helped me get most of my interviews.

I'm considering maybe sharing a place, at least in the beginning if I have trouble finding a decent place.

For me, Amersfoort is a bit too far. 25km is the max for me!

Good luck bro!

My new role is an Audio Video Technician, if I get it, mixed with IT Support.

I would be going to summits and conferences and setting up and supporting the conference Audio and Video, the laptops to the projectors etc. Then the rest of the week sat in the office in Amsterdam providing desktop support to people.

It's a slight career change, but involves the 2 loves of my life, computers and audio.

I will look at the undutchables, as I haven't yet done so. Ideally I wasn't planning to move until May, but this opportunity was too good to miss, almost fated :D

(i am chanting positive thoughts for Andy's job in Amsterdam)

 Can I share a visualization trick that has always worked for me?:?:

I get a copy of the company's business card, from the person you're interviewing with. Then I white out their name, and I print over my name (insert you're name HERE  ). Then I put the card somewhere I see it everyday and see it happening. Maybe it's a coincidence, but I've always gotten the jobs I needed with this.

Good Luck.
I don't think this method of gaining employment works, I've been chanting at this business card all week and hugh still aint called.

Good luck with your interview Andy!

I think Bonglord's advice is sound, but perhaps something slightly more mellow than TERMINATOR! :)

Some places not too far from Amsterdam are: Heemstede, Haarlem, Bussen, Hilversum, Alkmaar, Diemen, Beverwijk, Hoofddorp, Aalsmaar.

You might find some cheaper rents there.

THe traffic in the Randstad can be killer, but if you can get a place near a train line, then it would be snap to get into town.

Well Guys, Interview is over and done with. Unfortunately he didn't have any business cards down in the meeting room, and his office was 4th floor, so didn't get one..

While getting ready for the interview, I needed a hair band, so went through my Amsterdam bag, which I haven't sorted out since the NY trip. Look what I found..

0.3g in there.. Well I'll smoke that now then shall I?..

Hey Andy, hope things work out for you. I'm officially moving to the dam however! Let me know if you get the job and would consider sharing a flat, I believe its the cheapest way to get a decent sized place close to or in the center. The problem with the flats to share I found is that they are non smoking!
