As to the original OP. I have seen many different whitey's in different coffeeshops, and they have all been dealt with in the same friendly and efficient manner, it is part of the job, so to speak. Like being a landlord and helping to sober up those who have drunk too much.
It's a shame about the allergy. It must have been a horrible experience. In excessive smoking, I sometimes get a swollen tongue for a couple of days. I had that problem during my July-August trip, but then I was smoking a ridiculous amount.

Dude - I've been smoking for a good few years and I'd throw a whitey too if I smoked all that strong bud in that short space of time!
Instead of having a 'couple of beers' you just necked a 'bottle of whisky' to put it another way....
Glad to hear the guys at MY looked after you though - they may have just earned my custom next visit!!!

Since I just returned from the Dam on my 30 years of smoking weed tour, I thought I would share perhaps the biggest whitey in history.
This was in late '93, I was at a friends house. We had dinner, then smoked up (which is normally our custom, then it seems you dont get munchies and eat your way sober). All was fine, and we were playing some video games. Before going farther I should add, this was no extraordinary weed and in fact all my whiteys have been on just normal commercial brickweed.
Pretty soon I started having familiar signs.....a bit of labored breathing, and the edge of blackout, where everything looks like negative film. I asked if I could lie down for a bit just to relax and ride it thru. I laid on the bed, and it got worse and worse. My body convulsed and jerked, I couldnt get a breath, and I thought it was a heart attack.
I stumbled into their living room and said "I need to go to the hospital now, I think I'm Dying" So my friend drives me in and has the decency to ask that I not mention I was smoking weed with him as it may go bad for him...thanks buddy.
Normally in the US an average emergency room wait is something like 4-6 months typically, but when i came in the desk lady looked as if she had seen the walking dead, and they rushed me back.
I was in the hospital 6 days. In the ER they did what is called a blood gasses test, which they tap an artery directly (horrifying pain) and read the amount of oxygen in the blood. Normally this same test can be done just by putting a little sensor on your finger that just kinda lightly clamps down....my oxygen didnt even show using that method. I think they said a person's oxygen level is supposed to be a number like 98 or something, and mine was reading 34.
After all the tests, and 6 days on oxygen (yes, i told them about smoking pot) they never could define a cause for catastrophic oxygen depletion like that, possibly pnuemonia...but there were no other symptoms.
Was it the weed? Past experiences tell me yes, but never before had bad weed experiences went like that. That time was altogether more powerful and frightening. Ive come to the conclusion that given the fact I can smoke a whole lot of weed, and the more powerful the strain the happier i am, my incidents have been due to crappy brickweed either having additives or pesticides that I am very sensitive to.
Ive never had such an experience with any premium weed, and that episode has never repeated since, but in closing I will say that no matter what is causing the fright, once one begins ruminating over all the things going on, and are they breathing still? Is my heart even beating? Thats when being too high, or and odd reaction goes into hyperdrive, and I do believe that you can make your perceptions into fact if you allow your doubt and fear to take root.
Very very glad you are here to tell the tale, and I wont say you're not allergic. In my case, I was far too curious to stop smoking, so Ive built up my own 30 yr research project. All conditions nominal.

How am I not myself?
the staff at MY is always the best in amsterdam, but I dont get why they sold you SSH as your first smoke. I mean, this strain, and especially the one from MY, is very strong even to used smokers like us. You should try again with a strain like puffpuff mentioned, I am sure you will have a good time, but smoking a whole gram of MYs SSH at your first time...I think every other would have been the same
Totally, or perhaps a bottle of absinthe as SSH from MY is very strong!Instead of having a 'couple of beers' you just necked a 'bottle of whisky' to put it another way....
I feel it's a shame that you may not enjoy a pleasant experience with weed due to this episode. Something similar happened to me on legal highs, i woke up the morning after losing feeling throughout my body and went to hospital. They gave me a bag with a tube on the end to breathe into, and I calmed down after a while. It was just a panic attack, but scary non the less!!
Maybe 4-6 hours?? That would sound like an average waiting time. It's certainly at least that in our Casualty departments (what we call ER).ramses wrote:Extremepain, where do you live in the states that an ER visit wait is 4-6 months? Thats one hell of a long time. Anytime I've ever had to go for myself or family we basically went right back and saw a doctor.
