I have been waiting for this day for 8 long years, I am thrilled to see the faux cowboy go home, and elated to see Obama in office.

Surely anything was a positive change after Bush. The only positive thing for me is the colour of his skin, but he's a religious politician, which has to mean a conflict of interests somewhere along the line, especially to non christians. If I close my eyes when he talks, he just sounds like everybody else on their first day in the job.

I don't think religion should have anything to do with it either. So the 5 minute prayer and 'so help me god' shouldn't be in there. Dunno if the avatar is from a comic....wouldn't mind reading it meself if it was!. As for memory?. It's you that never remembers that I remember you, since ya came in with yer dad. Atleast 3 visits ago!. Stoner.

I am glad the Bush Crime Family is gone and that Obama is now in power.

Although Carter was religious, he did NOT foist his views on others. He is (and was, as president) a decent person, unlike the raft of presidents who followed him. (Save for Obama).

Carter was also a pretty bright guy (nuclear engineer, I believe), but the media mercilessly lampooned him as a buffoon peanut farmer, simply due to his honesty and his southern drawl.

Although I am glad Obama won, I think that Obama is quite right wing, by Western world standards (i.e.Standards of Europe, Canada, and so on) For an American, he is considered somewhat left of center and so that should be a good thing.

I do think he will NOT be such a war monger, he wwill push the Yanks back to democracy, he will lead the Yanks back to diplomacy, and he will, somewhat, restore some of the US's good will, at least amongst her allies.

Good luck to Obama and, by extension, to the US.

i think the prayer is because united states is mostly Christian..including me(anypone correct me if im wrong anyone) and its been done in all innagurations. im not the type to force my beliefs on anyone but tradition is tradition.

and sorry dc for not remembering if you remember me each time. i just am not the type to go in and assume you remember me as if im someone important haha. i know you meet ALOT of people from this forum in particular. the stoner memory also comes into play though. :D

Ingwey Gooblebogger: in't "yank" kind of a slur? or more of a jokingly in good fun sorta slur?.. anyways. obama in america is considered pretty left. atleast by the right wing media. i agree with some of his views except a few key ones (late term abortion being one) but no canidate is able to be agreed with 100%

Yank is just an abbreviation of Yankee. People use it when they can't be arsed to say Americans because it takes too long :)

Actually the defintion of Yankee is: Like a quickie, but alone! :P

I use Yanks. Yanks use "Brits" for the British, "Canucks" for Canadians and other euphemisms for other nationalities. They also pepper all their media with stereotypes of all other nationalities. Even serious US broadcasters say "Brits", so I have no problem saying "Yanks".

"Yanks" isn't insulting!
If one has ANY degree of imagination, they could come up with an almost infinite variety of ways to be insulting other than "Yanks". Indeed, I am almost insulted that you would think I could only use "Yanks" to be insulting.... ha ha :D

"Americans" refers to any and all citizens of both North and South America. (Similarly, the term "America" refers to North and South America). Lazy people use "Americans" to refer to Yanks because they can NOT be arsed to say "Citizens of the United States of America".

SR: If you're not too lazy then please conform to the correct terminology, above, when referring to Yanks. :D

A Christian Nation? Well, actually no. The first ammendment to the US constitution is "Religious Establishment Prohibited. Freedom of speech, of press, right to assemble and to petition". So there is no state religion.

Cannuks are not merikins as neither are Mexican's merikan's. Only merikins are merikins, not south, central, or North. Where did you get that?
