Hi all, and to Andy, Mike, Stan and Andrey.....i think thats everyone i met, greetings and we sure had a fun time on the 4th at Rockerij, then 420, then Grey Area and so forth. As milehigh told me, i would wish id never left holland. To a degree he is right, it is as friendly a town as ive seen, beautiful, and they have the best menus on earth, but seeing the Louvre in Paris, The Duomo and Michelangelo's David in Florence, and the 3 thousand things to see in Rome, with side trips to Pisa and Anzio just for fun, I have to say, yes i missed Amsterdam bad, but I do not regret seeing these amazing places....it just means next time my stay in the Dam will be longer, with no other countries mucking things up.

I have made it all the way to the last day in Rome. Our car comes at 6am to take us to Da Vinci Airport, and we will have the last ball of hash before the car arrives, so yes....i was able to transport and enjoy, yay.

I will add more detail to our A-Dam experience later in the thread, but i wanted to make sure and get a thread started for our fun times.

be good, and if you cant, then be stoned :D

I am glad you enjoyed the trip. It's always good to get the full Europe trip out the way first time, that means more time for the dam :)

Well, as they say....live and learn. Maybe it is because i was in a wheelchair, but the customs and security in Atlanta were so lax, i could have brought a kilo of hash back. I even had 2 small boxes of Cuban cigars i had forgotten about, they never checked anything, no dogs, no nothing....all isnt horrible, i did manage to get back with a gram of ice and a gram of the gooey royal jelly. Im glad i didnt tempt fate i guess, but id love to have more A-Dam hash here. I did also have an 1/8th of diesel waiting for me anyway.

Wes and I were discussing our favorite coffeshop as far as just a cool place to chill....he thought Abraxas was a nice chill out place. As far as my favorite....as well as memory serves. i liked Rockerij a lot for its laid back feel, and then I'd have to say 420, even though Andy and Wes had a laugh on me for not noticing a Zappa tune after I had requested it...guess I was having too much fun.

I will definitely have to return to Amsterdam...and I may have enough skymiles to do that next yr. And Andy I hear you may become a resident? You lucky lucky bloke, that is fantastic, and we are really happy for you.

Now back at home...im gonna get a lil more rest, then I will begin my day by day Dam chronology.

Happy smokes to all.

This is exactly what my GF and I are doing this time around. We went all around Europe last summer, this time it's just the 'Dam, with 1-2 day trips. I cannot wait :D Glad you had such a good trip over there.

Yes, I will have a much shorter itinerary next time over the pond.

We begin with January 3rd, day of departure from Kansas City. Wes and I live about 65 miles from the airport, so we stayed at an airport hotel the night before, and we also got to park his car for the 3 weeks we were away and use their shuttle.

Our flight was to leave at 1:10pm central on Delta, with a one hour plane change in Atlanta, then arriving in Amsterdam at 8:30. We got checked in and all seemed fine until a voice comes over the speaker telling us our flight would be delayed one hour. Obviously this meant we would miss our connecting flight, and it was their last plane to Amsterdam that day.

Here's where I have to give a plug for Delta. They worked their butts off to get us re-routed. We had to take a puddle jumper to Chicago on American Airlines, then switch to KLM Royal Dutch Airlines on a 747 to Amsterdam. Yes, it was a big hassle, and we lost the the good legroom bulkhead seats we had reserved, so my tumor was really screaming by the time we landed although I dont think we could have gotten through all the airport shuffles if it hadnt been for me having wheelchair service at the airports, and all in all we were only 2 hours later in arriving, so my thanks to Delta.

We arrived, got our luggage, and after a little wandering, found our driver. A driver was truly unnecessary as we stayed at the Ibis Hotel which is practically attached to the Centraal Station, but it was nice to have the service...still wont pay for that again though.

We were allowed to check into our room early (11:30am) so we got settled and headed off to Rockerij where we were scheduled to meet with several good folks from here. The initial plan was to meet up with cantona7 upon arrival, but with the flight delays we didnt link up as planned. We waited for cantona for awhile in the lobby, then decided that it would just be best to go to Rockerij since we were all to end up there at 2pm anyway.

Wes and I walked in and began our first coffeeshop experience. Wes went to get us some coffee, while I looked at the menu and picked a Morroccan Golden Cream, or similarly named. I borrowed a small bong from the bar and we staked our claim to one side of the window seat. WHile we were sparking up our first hash hits, Andrey showed up, said hi and went to the Budtender and came back with a bud and a cone to stuff. Andrey got pretty damned stoned, and we had a cool time visiting. The Morroccan Hash was nice, but not ass kicking by any measure. Next I could easily recognize SoulRider when he walked in due to him posting his tuxedo petrol pic, and if my memory hasn't already failed, cantona7 wzas either with him or came in around the same time. There was also a cool local guy that came with them. We hung out a Rockerij for a bit, then moved on.

Here's where my memory fails me. After we left Rockerij we went to Grey Area as I recall. I bought so many hashes, and a good few buds, but I believe I got a couple of ice hashes at Grey Area. I know we didn't stay long since it is on the small side, but the ice hashses I got there were quite nice. Our next stop on the journey was 420, by my request for their music list, and I believe this is where we took nice advantage of the Volcano vaporizer. Now I am forgetful whether it was at 420 or Grey Area that SoulRider helped me pick out some super silver haze, which we volcanoed.

The truth about day 1, though this post began with the 3rd, the 4th was actually our day of arrival, is that I cannot rate any particular weed or hash from that day. Too many different things were passed around to differentiate, but I can tell you we went back to the hotel floating. We did turn in early...930 pm, but we did well staying up that late after the flight, and we forced ourselves to Amsterdam time.

Day 1 top highlight: Me requesting 2 Frank Zappa Songs at 420, and jabbering with cantona7 through the first song, from Joe's Garage and never noticing the song. My son Wes and Soulrider sat at the other end of the table laughing in my direction, and Im trying to figure out why. Then as I finished jabbering with cantona, the next Zappa song came on, and I heard it, and was happily bobbing my head, then Wes and SoulRider let me in on what I had missed. So we know one or more of the many things smoked were pretty darn swell.

Day 2 to come...

HAHAHA, very good, but not quite.

We went to 420 straight from Rokerij, where we had Vapes, and all kinds of crazyness. For some reason, I thought you bought the Neville's haze, but to be fair, I was terminated. I didn't go to Grey Area, so maybe you went there after 420?

There ya are Stan! Great to hear from you. Wes and I had hoped we would run into you again before we left. We had some great times for sure.

SoulRider - You were showing me the 2 hazes and told me normally the Nevilles would have been the best choice, but it looked like theirs hadf been in the box awhile and was breaking down a bit, and the Super Silver looked just cured. Also remember we were trading U.S./U.K. jokes, and I asked you if I had to wave a sheet a paper over my head to order the Neville's Haze?

I couldn't have met up with a better bunch of folks, I had such a great time. We and cantona7 and Stan met up a couple more times, and as it turned out cantona was there with us when we nearly missed a train to Paris due to an ill informed information desk. No matter, when I am able to return, I will be hoping I can coordinate times with friends from here.

I am reasonably sure we went to Grey Area at some time, and for some reason it was stuck in my head that we picked up goodies there before going on to 420. But given my cocktail of prescriptions, weed and hash smoked, and the passing of time and all of its crimes, I could easily forget which was which. I do know I ended up with a bunch of hash, the SSH and one kind of sativa that was nothing but calyxes...good stuff. Actually it is all good stuff, and here I am in the states with, well....crappy weed.

But as they say, some girls are bigger than others.

Ok...I dont know whats up with this page...and of course smokers guide is down....but I will keep this post very short as I've lost 4 really long posts now. I didnt remember going to Amnesia that day...guess thats a good name for them. The Star Gazer was just tiny thin stems with nothing but calyxes, and lots of them...a nice up sativa, also makes the top of your head warm.
Thanks for remindidng me of the name, Mike. The writing on the bags had all wore off, so I had forgotten a few names.

I thought the royal jelly and star trek were from the same place, but again...I had AMNESIA :D

I had done a long day2 post that was very thin on detail...if this post doesn't dump, I will attempt day 2 again, but I will need to consult with Mike to fill in my memory some more.

Happy Smokes,

dave

Oh I know on the Zappa. I've gotten high to Frank on weed and other (ahem) '' substances, but never in a free and public environment. Were I single, I would seek to live there, it is perfect. (Not just for the Frank or the weed)
