What about the people that come just for the museums, food, tulips, biking, etc. I'd like to see some stats on how much the soft drug trade is a part of the overall tourism trade. I'd like to see just how much tourism will be lost by banning cannabis.

TBH people all the people on this site are on here coz they love Amsterdam for the weed. Some also dable in other gear whilst there aswell. But TBH all the people saying they could go for the culture ect are talking bull.
Try doing the Dam without any drugs. Visit the art gallerys, and museums.
Then come back and say you go for the culture. (Without being a billy bullshitter).
I am right and although your thinking what a tosser i am thinking why are you here on this site?
Taking any of the Drug tourism wheter it be Mushies or weed ect.. would have a bad effect overall on the citys Income. Just because CS tourism is not that high it does not mean the income from it is less.

Kermit i dont see how you can say that as you are in no way aware of the reasons tht people visit amsterdam and your basing your whole viewpoint on the advice people give on the weed culture out there. I visit Australlia alot, i always score and visit Nimbin, does that mean i only to Oz for the weed and Nimbin. I also love Thailand, i usually score there and laugh at the ladyboys and the way they trick unsuspecting visiters. Does that mean i go to Thailand because of Thai Sticks and ladyboys?

Respectfully dude i know my own viewpoints without someone telling me im bullshitting when i express them.

Thats my point Kermit, i smoke most places i go, i dont go to those places for a smoke. Its just part of the experience. Culture can be experienced without being stoned, ive done it many times. But getting stoned for me helps me to involve myself in a situation/artwork etc. I feel i can really empathise with people and understand their point of view. I dont have to be stoned to enjoy things, i just like to be stoned. I would enjoy watching the sunset ona Thai beach while a beach party is in full swing behind me not stoned, i just cap it off by smoking a joint while watching the sunset.

TBH dude i dont see how anyone can read what you said ( see above ) as being anything other than saying that people who say they go to amsterdam for culture or anything else than weed is talking bullshit. So then you would be telling me im talking bullshit because i was one of the ones who said i go to amsterdam for the culture. Your entitled to your point of view of course, i never said you wasnt. My point is that just because my point of view is different to yours it does not deserve to be labelled bullshit.

You holiday for the weed and not the culture simple as. The places you go are hotspots for gear and if weed was not readily available you would not go. Its simple!
You have answered my question perfectly and i am happy with that.
If you aint got a weed you would not be happy, yes you would watch a sunset but not without a spliff and you know it. You enjoy toking so you go on holiday where you know you can score.

Exactly, is there any point in me bothering to post or even think for myself when i can just ask Kermit. My point was as i have already said that if i choose to go somewhere on holiday i can score if i want to but it does not mean thats what my whole holiday is about. From what your saying does trhat mean i cant have a beer on holiday other wise ive only gone to get pissed. On holiday i must avoid all beer and booze as well as any drugs otherwise i have only gone to that country so i can indulge in those substances. I know for a fact that if i was to use a substance when on holiday it is because i want to not that i must consume or reality will set in and i will have to kill myself.

Ive been to many places in the world, seen many wonderful things, and consumed many wonderful substances while doing it. If it was only about me getting high i would just go to amsterdam constantly, not take the risk of going somewhere and not being able to score. My point about Oz was that i visited Nimbin but then went to many places, Gosford Darwin Perth and toured Victoria. If it was only about the weed i would of gone only to nimbin and not bothered moving.

It says alot about your ego that you think you know someone better than they know themselves.

This is not about sir niall at all, as for knowing him better than he does dont talk pants.
He had his opinion i have mine, i dont side with people,dont need people backing me up and always say what i think. He says he travels for culture then good for him i hope he enjoys many more culture intensive holidays.

Sorry for being rude and not actually answering the orginal post.

Personally im not interested in the girls or the mushrooms so im not bothered if these go.

I don't really see any signs of the weed going yeah they are getting stricter on coffeeshop's but this is likely to shut the poor one's down.

(i.e dampkring, barney's, greenhouse getting liecences for second shop's)

If they did take the weed out of dam in all honestly I wouldn't go half as much as I do now maybe once a year if that for old times sake.

However, I am still of the opinion it is a great city even with out the girls, weed and mushrooms and would survive if they went.

i visit amsterdam because of the vibe of this city.

i can vistit many museums and other historical places where i live ( wich i do on a regular basis, out of cultural interest), i can get weed here when i want it (wich i do on a very regular basis

)

but the whole experience for me is a mixture of it all. culture, weed, shrooms, the canals, the small streets, the steep staircases, lot´s of trees and parks. it would definatly be beautiful city without the legal weed there, but for me it wouldn´t be the same vibe as it is now. and mabey then i wouldn´t save every extra cent for trip to amsterdam but would go somewhere else.....
