Dover - Amsterdam???

Post by Bob2 »

Hi..
Just came back last week from amsterdam went with 3 friends, but it was CRAPPPPPPP!!! so i want to go back on my own, and smoke my self to near oblivion. Normally go by car and boat then drive up to amsterdam but im thinking boat from dover to calais or dunkirk, then train it the rest of the way has anyone done this ??? I can get lost easily so looking to make fewer changes to get there. can i pay upfront for the train ticket or do i have to keep getting tickets when i change trains. Many thanks

ive never trained it all the way there, sorry.... bit of google-ing is the only thing i can suggest....

it sounds drastic but ive used the national express bus before.

its not the train, granted, so it takes a looooong time. but its cheap, and its direct. no changes.

we used to get the 9 or 10 pm bus (i think).... sleep all night, and wake up in dam at 6.30 am.

the bus i used is from london victoria, direct to amstel station, which is a couple of stops down from centrall.

i suspect that if u need to get the bus form somewhere else, it would take u to london victoria, where u would change onto the amsterdam bound bus.....

I regularly take the bus, its a long old journey but with the expensive flights atm i wouldnt be able to visit as many times as i do without using it. Victoria to Amsterdam Amstell ( which has a good food counter for chips and mayo ) five or six stops to Central.

book through eurostar.co.uk

get a train from london or kent to brussels (eurostar) and then the Thayls on to amsterdam. Should cost £60-£80
