had the pleasure of being in the 420 cafe in the dam on the date above,in the afternoon,and cutting a long story short the place emptied without me noticing........

I was reading n smoking in the front window, there were a group of people at the back, the owner plus bar staff - bud tender finished shift.

about 6 police officers dressed in black and 2 beat police turned up,no idea why.before any of this someone dressed in black(again one of the officers) asked people in there if they were or spoke english(was the gist i got)

police would not let people into the cafe at all, including the bud tender ,steve.

i was not allowed to leave, i asked what was going on ,a more senior officer or so i thought asked me questions, searched my person,found my hash,asked if i had any more, to which i replied 'no' , he gave the hash back and bid me farewell - i was free to go.

now,i wouldn't have minded so much except that i had more on me than the hash the police officer saw so i was a little scared (approx 25g not inc hash found as it was seperate.)

can anyone shed some light on this strange situation in the 420 cafe on thurs 26th feb????

i know coffee shops are allowed to sell 5g max per person, but what is the max amount u can carry around without getting into any bother from the law?

Probably a random 'raid' checking that they are not over the permitted 500grams on the premises, I have never been in a CS when this has happened but I would say they go on. Imagine they did find over 500g and closed it for a while, a lot of people would miss that particular cs, me included.

good job it never got shut down

damn right, me too as it is one of my favourites

i must also point out that they had just had a delivery of 'stock' that day too, i really do hope nothing bad has come of it....

any more news on this incident would be most appreciated....

It's called a "control". It happens to every shop a couple times a year. They check inventory, the cash register, to make sure the sales match the inventory, and they search for additional stash. This is why 17 year olds should not go into coffeeshops. This is why it is not wise to carry a large stash around. You can have up to 30 grams, not 5 on your person. It is best to comply and it is over within an hour normally and the shop re-opens.

Nice1 for that. Never had the plesure of being at one of these so knowing i can have up2 30g is good

yes calm and relaxed is the best way to be in these situations but thats not to say i wasnt scared or walked away from there ,once i had passed the window, very quickly indeed....

lol there wasnt a problem with smoking,i relished being able to do it while the above was going on. B)



what was worrying me was the hash/weed in smelly proof bags in my rucksack,as at the time i was unsure of the maximum personal amount allowed.

That would be unreal, 'excuse me Mr officer could you pass me over the ashtray till I empty my bowl.'

Just keeping them on there toes i should imagine,A guy i know was in a coffeeshop a few years back when it was turned over by the cops! the story was like the other guys there,Ie 3/4 plain clothed cops turned up on that ocasion & then proceded to closed the place & started searching people + checking for ID`S & such,Then 1/2 mins later uniformed cops arrived to aid them but they were cool,They asked if he could speak english & he said yea! & to his amasement the cops asked him what he thought of amsterdam + if he was having a nice time & so on! lol unreal,Needless to say he and the place was clean so the cops were soon on there way .
