Today I've been to my friendly local drugs paraphernalia retailer and stocked up with some supplies..




..including a new grinder for the occasion. I can't actually remember the last time I saw a grinder this clean..

Day 1, 9am - Eindhoven

We arrive in the grey bleakness of Eindhoven, three everyday tokers, including my best friend who has never visited the Netherlands before. It being a good four hours since our last UK-grown Jack Flash spliff, we're understandably roasting, so with a little help from the locals, we trot off to find Grasshopper, which we've heard is the only Coffeeshop open in Eindhoven at the moment. After reading some reviews elsewhere on this site, we were keen to try the Strawberry Weed, so after parting with €12 of our hard earned, we crack it open. It looks pretty good, but from the aroma we can tell immediately that the weed is perfumed, with a hardcore strength strawberry scent, totally non weed-like.

"In for a penny", we think, and each skin up a doob. The taste, whilst not unpleasant, is akin to smoking some half decent weed, inside strawberry flavoured rolling papers. In the shop's defence, they had recommended two other weeds, so it was our choice. Walking back towards Eindhoven station to catch the 10.32 though, smoking our bizarrely flavoured reefers, we hope this isn't a sign of things to come..

Day 1, 11.40am - Amsterdam Station
After some repetitve scenery and in-depth solving of the world's issues, we arrive at Amsterdam CS, rejuvinated, and ready to take on the city.

Our first stop is the Dampkring on Haarlemmerstraat, where we grab some Amnesia Skunk (€7.50/g), White Russian (€7.50/g), and Power Plant (€7.00/g), which is one of the A'dam virgin's favourite strains.

We find our way to the top floor, which is deserted, and set up base camp. Out comes the camera, mini tripod and weed, and we're ready for our first pictures...<< SNAP >>, the top of the tripod has broken off.. not to worry, we'll rest the camera next to the bud for the macro shot. As the camera is focusing, the lens stops moving, and doesn't start again. Ever. For the rest of the trip, I'm forced to carry around my camera with the lens half extended, bouncing around in my bag - I think a new camera is in order. I'm gutted, as I wanted to document all of my smoking this time around, for myself, and for the forum too.

After a brief paddy, I sit back down and we each get a bifta of our respective buds on the go. The White Russian has the best 'bag appeal' of the three, positively dripping in trichomes, but is quite brutal on the throat, perhaps due in part to the amount of resin coating it. Potency seems decent, as R, the purchaser, has gone awfully quiet. The Power Plant has some flavour to it, but not at the levels the Virgin would usually expect. The Amensia Skunk, on the other hand, has similar overtones, but much fuller, and is very good to smoke (cheers Kermit). Nicely dried, but sticky-as-fuck when crumbled, I'd say this was an Amsterdam bargain right now.

Nice prices. I've found that White Russian can be a little harsh as well.

Day 1, 12.45pm - Hotel Manofa

We make it to the den, a basic quad room at the Hotel Manofa on Damrak. It's quickly agreed that this is the worst hotel room any of us have ever had, with P, the virgin, hitting the nail on the head when he compares it to a youth detention centre - spot on! Clean sheets & pillowcases though, so we can't grumble too much.

Deciding to inspect our first purchases again, we open up the tupperware, and two things are immediately apparent. One, the brand new grinder has already disappeared, presumeably sitting on a table in Dampkring, and two, everything inside the tub smells of fucking strawberry essence. Whoever recommended that poxy weed, shame on you

Worried that the trip is somehow cursed by now, we reject all traces of Strawberry Weed, switch tubs for a fresh one, and bounce to 420, which is a mere stones throw from our hotel. I already knew what I wanted to peer at, and was at first disappointed by the tub of NYCD I was shown. When the Super Silver Haze (€12/g) tub was opened, my mind was made up, the unmistakeable tang flying up into my nostrils before I'd even seen the weed. Eyeing up the frosty buds like they're the RLD's finest brass, we grab a gram and bounce, as the vibe of the place isn't grabbing us like it seems to for some of you.

A quick dash across to Hunters beckons, as P wants to grab some Bubblegum (€8.50/g). A protracted sales meeting with the budtender is next for R, as his discerning tastes rile the unfortunate dealer. His attitude could've been taken the wrong way, but I get the feeling he was happy to have someone come in and challenge him. Ultimately R settles for some Chocolope (€13.50/g), which makes me happy as I can compare it to the bit I hope to get later.

The atmosphere in Hunters isn't doing the trick, so R suggests we go to one of his old hangouts, City Hall, a place which I rarely see mentioned on here. The vibe is bar/pub-like, nice & quiet with music at a low level. We buy some drinks and settle down to try our latest purchases.

I'm really feeling the Super Silver Haze from 420, with that SSH flavour in abundance, and a good mixed high, definately leaning slightly more towards the Indica than other hazes tried. The Hunters' Chocolope is very tasty, with large, dense buds - the bud structure reminds me of some Blue Cheese we were smoking here last year. The Bubblegum buds are a little airier, reasonably frosty, with a decent BG aroma. P is the one going quiet now, so potency seems good.. There are more Bubblegum discoveries to come though.

Nice little report mate. a dealer i know came back from dam the other week with a load of 'abridean' haze from grasshopper, I think for E12 per/g(he doesn’t know about good shops) that smelt and tasted like some one had shredded a strawberry blunt wrap all over it. it had a slight nice skunk taste but was over whelmed by the synthetic tang.
