Is there a protocol other than asking the budtenders?

I mean, is it done regularily enough not to be a big deal?

It's not like I'm broadcasting to the world, just want to chat 1 on1 with a friend or two while away.

THanks!

Lots of people use laptops in coffeeshops, head to Dolphins for free wifi.

When it comes to cameras in coffeeshops, as long as you only photo yourself and your friends it is generaly ok. They don't want people taking photos of the other customers. I would assume it is the same with the webcam. But as you already mentioned, just ask before you fire up the webcam and you should be good to go.

While you are asking about web cams ask if you can take a picture of the menu. Then email it to me for the Coffeeshop Menus page.
All the menu browsers and I will be eternally grateful

No worries Fly, I was planning on doing some postings and reviews.

My wife may actually have some business to conduct in Rotterdam for a day. My intentions were to live report and webcam chat my entire solo day. I was thinking of hitting as many quality shops maybe 10 for the day.

Will keep you posted.

That's what I thought, thanks for the feedback. You always want to be careful when visiting another country not to offend or break the rules.

I have Dampkring, MY, Green Place, Grey Area, and Barneys on my list so far. Any idea if these places have wifi?

Thanks for Dolphins, will def add to my list of hits, even if only for the wifi.

If you go to Freeworld, The electrical outlet is in the fuse box. When you enter the shop, turn left and you will see the fuse box door in the wall you are looking at. They know me there so I just walk on in and get the laptop ( now I have a netbook ) plugged in and booting. While it boots I go to the counter and do my order. I do keep my eye on it at all times. By time I score my hash, the machine is all ready to play. They do have a minimal charge for WiFi. I have played for hours and never paid more than a couple euros.

YMMV

I actually just bought an HP mini in anticipation for this trip. I didn't want to be lugging around the laptop. 2.7 lbs is awesome!

Thanks for the tips FlyByNite!
