x2 people + drinks soon adds up. I have been for many meals in the dam from pizza (WITH MICE RUNNING FREE), Indian, Chinese, and steak. Never cost less than E50 for 2 with one drink each. In fact i could go and eat at Purnells for less than a decent meal for 2 in the Dam.
As i said each to there own m8
The day menu (dagmenu) @ De Beiaard is €8.50 per meal say €3 per drink thats only €23 for 2 and you get a top feed.

Dagmenu!

Seeing mice in Amsterdam isn't unusual due to the water, I bet even 5* places have them which is why there are so many bloody cats about.

Nice but still only mainly snacks? or bar food with the odd decent meal. I was thinking a decent meal would be like 3 courses in a restraunt? (IMO)
or somewhere like Wilma & Alberts(Yes i know its not DAM).

For munchies though it is an ideal place.

Here you go Kermit, 3 courses for about €15, I've read they do a 3 course set menu for €7.50 but I can't see that anywhere on the website: http://www.keukenvan1870.nl/index.html

Still about munchies

I see your point of view Kermit, I would also like too call myselves a drugtourist, but these places got what looks like decent munch, compared too BK, McD, and KFC, which is what I would call poison(with all of their additives and transfats). :) Thanks to the guys posting options!

Nice again but still only a set day menu thats cheap. evening meal soon adds up
http://www.keukenvan1870.nl/menu.html

The cheaper day meals are available most places as in the UK but TBH you have to eat whats on offer and very little choice between. If i wanted a nice evening meal its still looking around E50 at least even hear.
But still ideal for the original topic of having the munchies.
nice1 i am adding them to my lists boner as you come up with them though. Always good to have a list of places to eat

2right m8 they are poison thats why i dont eat them @ home and most deffinately Boners recs have better food. I will be sampling some come 420 as TBH when travelling solo i would not hesitate. But when i travel with the missus i have to be a bit more picky.
At least i know i can two good meals this trip during the day cheers boner

Day menu doesn't mean it has to be eaten during the day it means it's a set menu for that day even if you eat it at night, the same with De Beiaard.

The cost is too much therefor fast food is the only way. I would rather spend the E50-E100 on weed than goto a restraunt for a meal......
I have to agree with you Kermit... don't get me wrong - if, for some reason, I've got a big wedge of cash to spend when I'm in Amsterdam, I have been known to stop at a steakhouse or two and easily blow the equivalent of a couple of very nice "boutique" bags of green on a meal, but if I'm honest, I would rather walk to the corner down by De Kuil and grab a bite to eat at the Lemongrass Wok and spend €7-8 - it's almost too healthy for me, but I love nice, quick and most of all, tasty food...

I don't do the traditional first-time tourist things (pizza by the slice, or suspect-looking kebabs) very much at all these days, as I've learned from bitter experience how inconvenient a bout of the green apple splatters can be when you're trying to enjoy the pleasures of an early morning wake'n' bake session the morning after caning more munchies than was probably safe the night before!

A creature of habit now, I'll keep using the places I know and trust, whilst always on the lookout for the odd new dining experience. If I lose the contents of my stomach after eating somewhere though, they'll never see me again...

Some of those places you mentioned Boner, look quite tempting though and worth a look if I'm not too far away. Now if only Wilma & Alberts would open a branch in Amsterdam - that place does the sweetest steaks!

Try La Brasa down Haarlemmerdijk or Cafe de Klos down Kerkstraat.
