The Hem hotel is quite a way out from the center and according to Google maps would take just over an hour to walk to Dam square, I'd look at booking both your flight & hotel seperate, I dont know what budget airlines fly from Glasgow but if booked in advance most are pretty reasonable, have a look here: http://www.booking.com/country/nl.html?aid=200156 for a Hotel.

thnak you for reply

Get yourself a short list of maybe half a dozen, post the names of the hotels and we'll give you our best advice.

Try looking at vrbo.com, vacation rentals by owner.

We have stayed at many hotels in the city center, and it is our opinion that a nice apartment is the way to go. You will feel more like a local than a tourist, if that is your thing.

I hope this is some help.

Try flying on cheaper days if you can, or cheaper airport. Im going on the 12th april driving to east midlands airport and travelling on the sunday and back on the thurs and i got flights for £63 Return.

Try searching with www.skyscanner.net i spent a few hours finding my flights but saved over half the price.

Good luck
