The cheese i scored in the uk ( north west ) was very different to the cheese i later tried in amsterdam. The cheese i scored in the uk was much more musky, kinda earthy than the cheese i scored in amsterdam which was much sweeter. I could see similarties in the batches i smoked in AMS but only so much as you can taste the orignal NYCD in a Sour Desiel for example, you know the similarities there but the overwhelming flavour is different completely.

My appreciation to all for the info, thank you. Seems I will have to make a trip to Amsterdam for the Cheese. At E11 a gram, the extra 4 hours of travel may be worth this special trip.
Still, if anyone hears of any in Maastricht and Eindhoven, give a shout. THX
To comment on Sir Niall of Essex-sire post, maybe the reason for the difference in taste is that the strain you had in AMS was crossed with a dominant Skunk, just a guess. You scored in the NWUK, that would explain the difference since the Cheese strain originated (finished crossed product) in the UK. I have experienced something similar a few months ago when scoring the same strain in two different shops. There are many influences that factor into the final product, so who really knows.

OK, I keep having this conversation every day in the hostel, and I will post it here in an effort to stop repeating myself like a parrot
The best Cheese in Amsterdam is from Homegrown Fantasy. It is a level above everything else, when it is a good batch of course.
Joint 2nd has to be Mellow Yellow and Basjoe's. They both have a really good cheese which is not quite as good as HGF, but still miles better than anything else.
As a little tester, we had cheese going around from 4 different shops the other day. I passed around a Basjoe cheese spliff in amongst the others, and everyone was able to pick it out because it stood out above all the others we had in that sample.
As for the other cheeses, blueberry cheese at Green place is very good. One of the guys at the hostel recently had Cheesiel, and I was very dissapointed, but will go back and get myself a batch sorted out in the future to confirm this, as I want this weed to be good, it's nothing speacial after the last lot though.
I will say that cheese is good wherever you buy. If you buy from MY and Basjoe, the cheese is really good, and if you buy from HGF, its slightly better.
Please remember this is all subjective to a degree, and quality varies from one batch to another, but i believe this to be pretty accurate.

Just trying to be 'En Vogue'
Just because it's the same strain, doesn't neccessarily mean its the same phenotype. For example, rokerij sells Laughing Bouddha which is more sativa than indica, and they retail it at €11g. Dampkring sells laughing buddha, for about €6.50, but it's mainly indica, as is blues brothers version, this is why they are cheaper. They are the same strain but different phenotypes.Dirty Uncle Ron wrote:I have experienced something similar a few months ago when scoring the same strain in two different shops. Quality of course varies from batch to batch as well which does make comparisons that much harder.

That Cheeno is doing it for me. Cheese is nice tasting and flavoursome but the high is not long lasting - the Cheeno (White Rhino X Cheese) maintains all that is good from the cheese whilst adding the power of the White Rhino to the party.liquidSwords wrote:Picasso had a nice batch of Big Buddah Cheese when i was there back in Feb,
At the moment at home ive got some Cheeno (Cheese/White Rhino cross) and its just everything you would want from some bud from how it looks to how it tastes... heavenly!!! Hope to see it on the menu's in Amsterdam soon
Thanks for the liveners this week dude!
... as long as it aint a cheque
I have had Cheese from Hunters,MY,Katsu and Greenhouse in the Dam. None of these where special to the point where i gave up looking for a decent cheese in the Dam.
I will hopefully try HGF during my 420 trip but i wont be buying any others apart from the blue ones.
Cheese(If its real) in the U.K wipes the floor with any i have tried in the Dam as yet. Hopefully HGF Cheese will prove me wrong

Oddly the Cheese 'round these parts came from Big Buddha, the pheno that was picked doesn't smell sweet or have that clear headed high. It's dank for sure and the stone is...well quite stony. Just goes to show how the phenos can vary. Most people I smoke with aren't so much into sweet as much as real skunky.

True, broad statement! But i'd play advocate here and say that when I was in the Dam back in Jan09 with LiquidSwords and a few others, Liquid bought cheese from every coffeeshop we visited (which was loads). And he was of the opinion that HGF had the best cheese at that time... I'm inclined to agree... Interesting huh? I agree with both points - pacified, peaceful and... pondering!Boner wrote:Bit of a broad statement to make to be honest, how many shops have you tried Cheese from exactly?SoulRider wrote:The best Cheese in Amsterdam is from Homegrown Fantasy. I agree the Cheese from HGF is excellent but the first time I had it from Katsu that was excellent as well, the Blue Cheese from Barneys Lounge I tried was pretty good as well shame about the price, the Chiesel I tried from a private source was pretty fucking banging as well (thinking back it was one of the best weeds I've had in a while) as it was the best of both worlds, the unique flavour of NYCD crossed with the skunky tones of Cheese.Trichome_Dense wrote:True, broad statement! Yes I've heard many a great thing about the Chiesel, Two of the tastier strains had it off and this is the result - It's so damn anticipated I couldnt begin to tell you... I've already put this out as one to Grow!Boner wrote:Trichome_Dense wrote:Boner wrote:

It was a very broad statement, but I speak from not only my experience, but that of many others who have all agreed, when you put them up against each other, there is something special about the HGF cheese. It is different to the others. It feels more like the UK cheese, than the others, and while the others are really good cheeses, the original cheese was outstanding.
Of course Blueberry Cheese and the other combinations change things, but of the 'cheese' varieties, most people I know who have smoked many varieties including the HGF have all put that one at the top. Katsu's is apparently the same quality as Basjoes/Melloy Yellow, but I cannot say for sure as I have never had their cheese. I definitely want to try the cheese from CS Little too, because it's advertised as Big Buddha Cheese €11g.
Being a UK man like yourself, I was totally on the cheese when it was around in the UK, and smoked it for a long time. It is probably the all-time best weed for me, it's got everything, great stone, great high, lovely flavour, for me best all round weed. So of course, I spend a lot of time buying cheese. In fact I came out here on my 3rd trip last year and me and my friends bought mainly cheeses from loads of different shops and only bought the Homegrown fantasy version on our last night as we were chilling outside the pub next door, turned out to be the best by far of that trip. Couldn't tell you what one's we tried on that trip other than the HGF one
I know I don't need to answer in great detail, but you did ask
A broad statement is that, it's a generalisation to provide a mean average that is typical, and the typical response that I have found is that HGF is the best cheese
As regards the cheesiel, for me it was one of the most anticipated weeds, but when I had some the other week I was very dissapointed. I will be geting myself some to sample properly, as I really want this to be a great weed
