Not a bad coffeeshop in my book.
Its spacious, and if you can get the seats at the back (upstairs or downstairs) its quite nice. Decor needs changing though.
Has lots of seating, so if you're in a group, it's helpful.
Had the Special here recently, again- I seem to have a bit of a taste for it, and have made a point the last three trips to get some.
Staff seemed fine.
Prefer the Nieuwmarkt branch though, as it's quieter.

Never been to the Nieuwmarkt brach, will make it a must on my next trip I think!.

Visited 22 - 25th April 08

I thought this place was ok on first viewing, got some Blueberry and retreated to the back of the shop to get sorted, sat down on some nice leatherish sofa and got ready to roll, got the bag open and had a nose of the BB and it was NICE got my skins together grinder out and ground up enough for a nice fat joint, rolled it lit it n sat back to enjoy, after a few smokes and relaxing into the sofa i began to appreciate the place for what it is a good coffeeshop with good weed, it could do with a bit of a decor upgrade but thats what the attraction is to the place, the graffitti and the fact you can add to it.

Staff behind the bar were friendly and bud tender was happy to offer a smell or advice on what to smoke, ill be going back when im in amsterdam again in Sept.

I would say this is an average place but i have not purchased here as yet but wot my m8 got was some okay WW. I have had worst but i have had better. Cant complain about the service and the location is pretty decent.
Deffo worth a visit like all the Cs.

Do any of you guys or anyone who have been here since the alcohol issue\ban have any input on how the feeling of the place has changed comapred to when you could still have your beer with your smokes here?.

I for 1 loved this place as it felt like a home from home, kind of like a local pub back home that you felt was the kind of place that would prevent you going on a crawl (not that I ever stay here all the time lol). Was very suprised when they chose smokables over the alcohol!. But it often annoyed me when it got to packed late on and you get the typical British piss-heads (yes I have said that as a British person myself) wanting to fight the world or they have overdone the drinking and smoking ratio and start to tumble around the place.

I'm hoping the place has kept it's atmosphere and feel (cos it has always been quiet and cool during the day) but less of a un-nerving feeling during the evening.

We were there shortly after the alcohol ban & it was pretty quiet and friendly during the day, so that's a yes

You get nearly a pint glass for a milkshake in there, awesome!! Their shakes are excellent.

Although not my favorite coffeeshop per ce, (that would be Nemo in Rotterdam) i have not yet tried something quite as good as the Hill Street Special. It has a great taste and a very comfortable and mellow high that i just absolutely love.

So 5/10 for the location, but 10/10 for the weed

I think is a cracking coffeeshop and met a few people in there. 2 of which had been in there everyday for the last month, well and truly regulars! We sat downstairs at the back of the coffeeshop, if you open the doors it has the best view overlooking the canal!!

I once (several years ago) found myself bearly able to stand when I went to the back to have a smoke looking out over the canal. Probably to do with the gear and the ripples in the water. Gave me a well funny feeling of floating on water I can tell you.

Great coffe shop!! only one problem with it!! i kept getting pestered by the staff to buy a drink etc etc even though iv spent 24 euros on weed and alrede bought 3 drinks lol ...Some times its nice to just chill.

Yeah some places can be like that, then again i dont think they
take into account the state of a stoners mind and the fact that
getting up to go get a drink is the last thing you want to be doing.

For me it's a 2 way matter, sure nobody wants to be pestered while chilling in an Amsterdam coffeeshop etc. But on the other hand I've a few times found myself needing a drink with the inability or want to leave my seat lol.

The solution is to make sure you already have a drink (more full than empty) next to you so the staff know your chillin.

I will keep going back to this shop for the music alone. Great rock and roll. One of my few complaints about Amsterdam is the music they play in most of the shops. Any kind of electronic or raggae is not for me.

pukka place was in there every day at least twice .
good pool table , cheap drinks , friendly staff , toasties are ok too. smoke tobacco in joints if you dnt leave it on show! all my mates had ok weed from there aswel

overall great c/s 5*****

it is ok this shop been here 2 a 3 times been also at the nieuwmarkt one it is ok little bit americanized this shop
