Thanks guys...

Glassman, The Doors it is - back table and all!

Deno...St. Nicolaas Boat Club started it all while reading through the Boom Chicago brochure. Can't get much cheaper than "donations" but with no advanced reservation or even a phone number to find out when or if they're running. So we found this guy online (licensed tour guide, too) and he charges by the 1/2 hour and advertises himself as a water taxi too.

Haven't done a canal cruise since trip #2 or 3..and that was the rather boring over-sized commercial boats with the tinny speakers blasting in your ear. Don't want THAT experience again!

i am (counting that is)... :D sounds like fun to all meet up for a smoke. we're staying in the Jordaan as well (further up towards Anne Franke/Grey Area area) but will obviously still be close.
...On a related note, we tracked down a 10 seat private boat (and captain!) for pretty short change (his ad quoted 25 euro an hour! Most likely per person) and he's smoke and drink friendly. So, weather and funds permitting, we're hoping to book an hour or two of hasj ciggs and canal cruising. Needless to say, if anyone wants to join in - just let us know! :D
i would be down for something like this (weather permitting of course)...it has been years since i've been on the canals and the wife has never been...GREAT FIND hasj!

let's stay in touch... 8)

Glassman, funny...never stopped in Doors even though we've passed by it a hundred times. No real reason why, it's not like we DIDN'T want to go in there it's just, like I said in my intro, we would wind up passing THROUGH the area and this time we're staying. Long sentence short, WE'LL CHECK OUT DOORS! Oh yeah, I LOVE scallops so when we hanker some Chinese...

For good hasj go to central cs, they usually got a top grade moroccan for 12.5e-1.5grams or cheaper if u buy big bag, im a hasj smoker myself and i find their hasj among the best, even better than the rifman at tweed, in dec the hasj was called warm ears & in feb they had one called sahara, both really fresh and first kif. For food try La Grotte on harlemstraat, dont think they sell but are happy for you to smoke, really good service aswell.

Yea it will be nice, so the cruise is good, but if we go to 2 hours, thats 100 euro for my wife and I.. Kinda steep.. A nice coffeeshop with a good seating area is nice for a uncrowded weeknight...
Abraxas has a lot of room, but not so comfy.. And other suggestions?

Can always also have a smokeout in Vondelpark one night..

Yeah you just go to Boom Chicago for more information. Have you visited their website? I know you can't book through it, but it is worth the effort to have a nice boat ride :)

The anticipation builds!

Pauli...HAVE to try out central cs. The wife & I stopped by last time but it was too busy and the entrance was all but blocked by a couple of "sketchy" looking dudes so we just kept going! This time, since we'll be so close, we'll be sure to hit it early in case multiple visits are in order. :D

Lube...I hear ya, when you break it out that's alot of spliffs worth of euro we're talking about! I'll get the final pricing info from him closer to the trip, maybe he'll cut a deal?? Either way you're right; PLENTY of hang out coffeeshops to while away a couple of hours. Softland always has plenty of room and even Barney's Lounge is a possibility for a nice drink and smoke?

Soul Rider...I'm not ruling it out! Been on their website but inconsistency seems to be their middle name! No harm in taking a walk down...

Thanks guys, less then 7 weeks to go :D !

It is so close, I love it..
If we were able to get some seats at the Grey Area that would be awesome, but I usually get stuck at the shelf table..

Barneys gets quite packed at night also, unless we go to the Barneys near Rembrandtplein, its usualy quiet at that one..

I would love to see a new shop in Amsterdam, but I have almost been to all the ones I want to go to..

Really? I've been to Amsterdam over 20 times and I still have 'must visit' coffeeshops I plan on visiting.

This might be worth a look http://www.amsterdamboatclub.com/index.html

Ya want beer http://beerme.com/region.php?13

Shopping anyone http://www.amsterdam.info/markets/

Fancy a more cultural walk http://www.newamsterdamtours.com/nat/in ... 50&lang=en

Maps http://www.experienceamsterdam.com/Maps-Amsterdam.html

The typical top ten http://traveldk.com/amsterdam

And if all that is not enough http://homepages.cwi.nl/~steven/amsterdam.html

Have you been to Amsterdam in second life?? Its pretty neat..
The layout is wrong, but it looks very cool..

I just use my iPhone around town, there are lots of Amsterdam apps and its gps, so it just makes it into a big playground with no limits.

My wife wants to go on a boat, but it has to be comparable to the other canal cruises pricewise..
