Trip to Amsterdam

Hi
Me and my dad are visiting Amsterdam soon, but I'm only 17. I'm not too fussed about sitting in coffee shops, as I want to explore the city because it is my first visit, however I don't think it'd be a complete trip if I didn't experience some of the coffee shops. Although my dad will buy it so we can have a smoke while exploring. I do look older than 17, but not by much, and I will be with my dad who looks like a respectable gentleman who is 50+, will this affect my chances of getting carded? Or are there any coffee shops who are notoriously lax on this thing? Or is it best not to try at all?
Any advice would be most helpful.

Dude, i feel for your situation, but your chances of getting carded are around the 100% margin. The problem is man that if a coffeeshop gets caught with you in it and your under 18 that shops gets shut down. Which is unfair on the owners, staff and people who are of age who use it. The best bet man is to head to a smoker friendly bar and smoke there while your dad buys for you. Have a look on FBN's menu page,decide what weeds you want, send your old man in to buy them and smoke them in your apartment, bar etc anywhere but a coffeeshop.

Dont ruin it for the rest of us by being impatient and selfish. Enjoy your time, stay out of the coffeeshops.

Good advice m8.

Get your Dad to get the smoke then hit the sights. Get all the things to see and do out the way on this trip(Museums,parks,and POI). Then when your 18 you can come back and do the CSs. No worries about needing to see any places then as you would have already done it.
Ideal situation to be in really as you can really enjoy the City and still have a smoke.

It wouldn't matter how old or respectable your father looks, UK_17, you'll still get carded in the coffeeshops if you're consuming there. It's not just about the actual purchase of the weed by underage patrons, it's the problems the coffeeshop would have if there was a raid while you were in there.

If you must smoke at 17 in Amsterdam, then I would do it well away from the places that would lose their licenses because of it. Sit down in Vondel park with your old man perhaps and have a toke well away from anyone who might object... Or just wait until you can do it legally!

I would think they would have the same legal restrications as a coffee shop regarding smoking underage.
Not sure that's good advise, but I could be wrong, think it would be better to stick to apartment or park, etc.

While I fully support our rights to consume marijuana and hope for its' legalization, I do not endorse the supply of dope to minors.

Agree with you to a point, but he's only a year short of legal age and is with his dad.
How old where you when you tried you're first joint ? Did you wait to you were of legal age ?
I know I didn't.

sorry guy but i'm with twocanucks on this it's an ADULT play area...don't ruin it for the rest,these people fought hard to get the coffeeshops ....either get daddy to buy and smoke it together far away from the c/s or even better wait a year.....i'm a baby faced 41 year old and i still get carded

I said if dad was willing to buy and smoke w/him in his room or some thing like that didn't see the problem.

I know I didn't.

I tried my first hash at 21, and have been smoking weed for the last 15-16 years daily up to a couple oz a week.

I got not prob giving my first born a puff at home to get him educated, but not in a public forum in a foreign country where we'd be risking sanctions... especially in a foreign country.

Thats just me.

I understand your point entirely, but... what if... an underage kid takes a nose dive off a balcony or walks in front of a tram after his dad gave him a puff...?? yikes.
