I identify with most tenants of anarchism, but don't subscribe to rioting per se.
Been following live updates from the activists on the streets all day. This g20 thing is typical. Thousands of well behaved demonstrators and some bad seeds making the point wasted. I blame the media for the most part(I have a degree in photojornalism even). The news and police hyped the violence for months. Those kids breaking windows? They don't believe in fighting oppression, they wanna bust heads and get some punk rock street cred. And they only showed up because they heard for weeks on TV that they could do just that on aprli 1st. Because of them the peaceful protestors at climate camp have been kettled for hours and intermittently beaten because now the cops think every kid with dreads is packing a molotov.
And that whole bankers dress down nonsense was just to scare the yuppies and moms into not disagreeing with violent police tactics. Don't buy in, I've never seen passersby targeted or assaulted by anarchists. In fact, I'd reccomend wearing a suit to set you apart from the anarchists. Get caught in jeans and a sweatshirt when the truncheons come out and you may be mistaken for one of us when the adrenaline gets the pigs going. I have seen many innocent people thrown in jail or beaten because they were near the demo when the riot squads moved in. And "I was on my way to work" will fall on unbelieving ears.
For the record I do support vandalism, subterfuge and civil disobediance, just not like this shit. We say "Food not Bombs" but show up with gasoline? As spock would say, "Completely illogical"
may day is approaching....

Clayman that's a great example of how these incidents are staged for the press. I heard the news about the protesters busting windows in banks. The media made it sound like protesters were running the streets smashing windows. This picture tells the story of one asshole getting his 15 seconds of fame.
