I recommend the Victoria. Its beautiful and expensive. After all it is a Park Plaza chain. The price can be negotiated. If you go to some of these booking sites and type in the name, you can get a deal sometimes. I love the Victoria. Oh yeah and about the smoke, well they dont tell you not to, and your paying a good price. I smoke in there all the time and no one has said boo to me about it.

I need a miracle everyday

Top end, try the Hotel Vondel on Vondelstraat. it's in between the Vondelpark and Leidesplein and only a tram ride from anywhere else.

Mid range, try the Tulip Inn. Great location with food, drink and smoke all just over the road and is walkable from Centraal Station.

Excessive: A bit pricey but you do get a free mini bar and it is probably the nicest building I have ever stayed in. Worth it even if it's only for a night or two.

All of the hotels above the Missus approves of, and seeing as she doesn't smoke you can imagine that the hotel has to be pretty good or she won't get on the plane.

P.s.

Good Luck ;-)

I ended up using Priceline for a 5 star hotel. I did a lot of research, and was able to narrow it down to 8 possible hotels that priceline would put me in.

I started bidding at $65 a night, then $71, and was finally accepted at $76 a night for two nights, total of $178.63 USD (Yes, dollars, NOT euros!) for The Grand Krasnapolsky. Out of the 8 hotels I narrowed it down to, Krasnapolsky wasn't high on my list but the location is great and I'm sure it will be fine. How bad can a 5 star hotel be?
Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly?
