Post by sheppyg1903 »

I stop off at central as my 1st and last coffeeshop on each visit and never had a bad word to say about the place.

Budtenders are always polite and willing to talk you through the menu. I never have a grinder on me as it's the first stop , when i ask they always have one to pass round . :)

Has anyone paid any attention to the window of the coffeeshop , whats the crack with the signage stating that it seats 120 people with pool tables and upstairs !! WTF ???
When i spoke to the budtender on my last visit about the "upstairs" he looked at me like i was on another planet ..... so i'm guessing it's just a joke ( unless im stoned out my pigging box and iv'e just not seen it )

Anyone shed any light on it ... was there an upstairs at one point ?

Sure there is or was something about that in an early review on the page for it on the main site here?. Think there used to be an upstairs but never noticed any stairs there. Possably a running joke now to take the piss out of the size of the place?.

I can't see where any stairs would be, place yourself in central , you got the counter which goes to the left hand wall , just behind that is the till and stuff with the juice etc , which is against a wall , to the right you have the toilet , and on the floor to your right you got the hatch with the stairs going down . Surely there is no upstairs ... i need to find that other post your referring to dave.

I would say that if people think there is/was an upstairs at Central then that's a vote in its favour as to the quality of their shit. Would also like to add that the davidof (not to be confused with the aftershave for those still looking for the upstairs) is well worth a try - nice trippy get up and do stuff kinda high :D

are you talking about the same central coffeeshop?because the one across from centraal is way different to the way you described..the counter is straight ahead..at the back of the shop, there is 6 tables in the whole shop,no upstairs lol and im sure i didnt see any downstairs

LOL  it's the same one . ha ha ..  it's just the picture i've painted with the description must be really poor. The counter (looking at it... as your physically at the counter where the box is) runs to your left and onto a wall. The chairs and tables would be behind you . i didn't bother to mention it. :D

If you look at that link there is deffo some info on the window in the bottom left. Only I cant work out what it says even when zooming in on full screen on google street view. I'm sure it was a post on this site many years ago doing research for my first ever trip that stated about an upstairs and a pool tables etc?. May have been another site I dont recall. But I do recall there being something even it is was simply saying what was mentioned on the window rather than having an upstairs and pool tables as such. I'm still certain there was something about it years ago. Thats unless some reviewer got there review mixed up with another cs and that review was later removed?.

Unless the mention of the pooltables and an unstairs related to the bar next door?

Cheers Dave. I thought i was going nuts !! On the window ( the sign ) it says seating for 121 and pooltables upstairs . I've never seen an "upstairs" and think it's a wind up. When i did ask the budtender ,the guy looked at me as if to say.. " ur a nut job .. can u see an upstairs bud ...?"

I'd certainly eat a scabby half rotted cat (well a Febo burger or 3 anyways) if there is a locals back room or upstairs thats refered to in the window info.

But I did spend more time than I care to admit looking for that pic to prove the window info aint some old stoners tale thats not true. Either way, would certainly be interesting to hear the story behind it as thats the same info I read about several years ago.

I thought it was just me !!! good to see you found it the pic that confirms it. Now next stage is to figure out if its a piss take (and if so a good one ! ) or indeed there was pool tables and an upstairs. Can anyone shed any light on this ?
