Who gets the "munchies"...?
Hi all,
I would love to know just how much thinner I would be if I did not so much MUNCH so much in the evenings.
Do you munch?
I find myself filling rolls, pitta breads... anything i can lay my hands on with cheese, ham, peanut butter, chocolate spread... absolutely anything (and everything) I can find. Crisps, sweets, peanuts, biscuits... anything !!
If you do munch... what do you eat.
Should be interesting...

I cast my vote for savouries.
My last trip to Amsterdam was brought to you by the letters F E B O.
I also tucked in to Vlaamse Frites more than once and stopped at a couple of pizza places.
The hash I get round here (soap bar) doesn't have the same kind of munchie effect but if it did then it would be savouries all the way.

yeah man, pizza... yummy... they are bastards though. I remember when I went before my mate said "lets get a pizza"... I'm thinking deep pan, double peperoni, onions, peppers the works... and knowing how filling all that dough is I was planning on getting a large one and really struggling to eat the last 2/3 slices BUT...
HOLD ON !!
When we arrive at the pizza place, Its sold by the slice... and I felt like a right fat bloke so only had 2 slices... this year though. Sod it, I'm hungry, I'm MUNCHING !!

Pizza place I went to was also by the slice. Think it was across from Baba.
My target for this trip is to try Falafel. It's all veggies so it's all good for a complete pig-out.
I also learned for the first time about a good ol British style fish and chip shop which can definitely look forward to my custom.

Those dreaded munchies
I will eat anything thats not nailed down.
The wife has got wise to this now though, she keeps the "munchie food" in the boot of the car. It's all the food that the kids eat, choccy bars, biscuits, crisps, sweets etc. She knows I won't get my lazy stoned butt off the sofa to go out and get them

lol... funny how the "cupboard" always seems empty of goodies BUT the kids ALWAYS have munch food in their packed lunches.bigjohn wrote:she keeps the "munchie food" in the boot of the car.
I've searched this house from top to bottom looking for something to eat...
I've even found myself in the petrol station looking at the king size choccy bars, you know the ones... 3 for £1... and been very tempted to stock up and hide it, just feels like the bud is taking control...
Roll on tonight !

To be honest, I get more of a craving for fizzy drinks or even a cup of tea than something to eat...in Amsterdam I spend loads on soft and hot drinks during the daytime!!
I voted for the sweet option on the poll as I wehn I get a proper munch on, I always find a Toffee Crisp or some red fizzy liquorice

Is the stall owned by these guys? http://www.maoz.nlComo wrote:The falafel stall opposite Central Station do very nice falafel and their chips with mayo or curry sauce are great too!
It was this site that inspired me to try something new while I'm in Amsterdam and also the inspiration for my decision not to bother with the proper restaurant scene.
I'm all for trying any kind of falafel stall really. Maoz seems like a McDonalds type franchise. I'd rather pay my money to the small guy than surrender it to capitalist franchises.
Also interested in the Piemaker shop from a couple of posts back with the Pizza Rolls and things. Anyone know where it is?
Hey folks.
my vote has 2 be for savoury. my munch right now has 2 be cheese doritos feckin luverly so they are.
Anyway if anyone got the time in the Dam they should try a Reijstaffel. check spelling. they are available at most indonesion restuarants. loads of small curried meat, fish, and veg dishes. had it for my bday meal out there. great food great night
Peace

What exactly is this Rijstafel you speak of? (sounds amazing)den wrote:Anyway if anyone got the time in the Dam they should try a Reijstaffel
Doesn't really sound like a set meal?
Is it like a buffet kind of thing where it's all laid out in front of you and you just pick what you want?
Is it the kind of thing that 1 person could order, or is it something that requires a few people?
