Trichome_Dense,
I think you nailed it. Being high strung and desperately NEEDING to turn off my brain I think that I am indeed after that old skool buzz. That's what brings me home and shuts off that damn brain. That's what I was looking for....something to shut down for a while.

ALRIGHT GUYS....hit me with your best indicas!!!

indica is what you're after if you wanna feel old skool buzzing.
Actually, that might depend on how old you are and where you live. :D

If you are under 35, then an "old skool buzz" might mean an indica dominant hybrid style of grass.

On the other hand, if you are over 35, then "old-skool buzz" might mean sativa.

In North America, until about the mid-late 1970's, most pot came from Columbia, Mexico, Hawaii, Thailand (and or other South-East Asian coutries). Those weeds are mainly sativa.

In about 1975-1976 breeders, mainly in California (and North American west cost states/provinces), started both producing sensemilla AND cross-breeding with Indicas! I was grateful for that, but, especially, for the introduction of the Indica genetics, since I found that the Indicas "beefed-up" the existing strains. We were completely blown away by the Indicas when they rolled in.

It took a few years, but then the Dutch cottoned onto the new cannabis breeding techniques (thanks, in large part, to "Old Ed") and they really took it to another level!

I'm pretty sure that I am part of the Indica generation. That is obviously what i came up smoking as a teenager and college student.

Whoa - I'm nailing a lot of posts lately... Loving that! Thanks!

Indica huh?

Ok bro... Firstly the word on everyones lips is "Cheese" - homegrown fantasy do the best cheese around!

Want stronger cheese? - there is now White Cheese (White Rhino X Cheese): - Private Message Soulrider and he'll let you know where the best one is!

NYC Diesel: Unique flavour and experience - One of my faves... Dampkring I thinks? NO Barneys...

Hard indica buzz to knock you out? Alaskan Ice (if you can get it (think greenhouse but their rep is dropping fast))... or...

White Rhino - apparently the strongest strain ever created... Hmmm.... Well it is strong!

Oh Shit - almost forgot - The LA Confidential has that old skool Indica taste which'll take you right back to detention in school man! Available from Barneys...

Other than that - I'd say recommendations for weed in coffeeshops are on a time frame - meaning that what may be really well grown/cured one week may not be another week - So IMO, what you should do is go to the coffeeshops andf ask the budtenders and local tokers the "where to go and what to smoke" as they'll know better than us tourists... Which brings me back to my first point - SoulRider - He's got the info you so rightly require! 8)
... as long as it aint a cheque ;)

Sativas definitely do not give that old skool buzz, as was said earlier. I love sativas for the happy as fuck up feel, but ive never had a sativa high blow me away, to me its like a medium strength opiate, like low dose morphine, for me a good sativa should just make all aspects of you feel like they always should in my mind.

Indicas are the true pounders for me, closer to a quaalude, if youre of the era of those. Its been awhile since anything has hit me very hard, but way back a strong indica could cause me to have time/space distortion, heavy cottonmouth, wondering if things youve only thought have actually happened, rare paranoia, thinking your heart has stopped and stupid stuff, and all that fun body high parts of an indica.

I thought the strongest sativa i had when i was there in january was the pure equatorial sativa, from grey area, i believe, its the strangest looking weed ive seen, but it truly fits the bill. I also like sour diesel when its good.

There are lots of power indicas. Cheese is very popular now, but its not a fave for me. I like blueberry, I also liked the LSD I had, but I do not recall the shop. Laughing Buddah is also a thumper.

Mike, at some point, I need you to write a history of my time in the Dam and email it to me. I think I was so wide-eyed, and just in a blur of happiness that I didn't always pay careful attention to where I was at a given time. Of course being about 1.5 seconds from a tram running over my foot is burned into my memory.

extremepain,
I couldn't agree more with the whole indica thing. That heavy time/space distortion is fun as hell. I like that you said that a good sativa "should just make all aspects of you feel like they always should". If that is true I am feeling pretty good, because the sativas I had just made me feel slightly more amped up, but pretty much me. I am indeed looking for the cottonmouth and did that just happen feeling. Interesting that you are not into the cheese as that is what most everyone is recommending.

Where should I go for the good blueberry??
