Not the everyday smoker...

Hey guys, as much as I read most posts and know what's good these days in the dam...My request is a little different this time around.
My friends mom is going with 2 friends at the end of the week to Amsterdam. They have 4 days in Amsterdam. They are going to do it up properly. I will provide them with what i know and can hopefully get some input from you guys. That being said...we move on.
They are not daily smokers, but more the type to smoke one at night, or maybe during the day and doing some gardening. Our goal here is not have them take a whitey on us, or have them cooped up in their rooms all week...
Do you guys suggest they start with something weaker/mild, and maybe something they might remember from the good old days? Thai or Jamaican i was thinking for a starter. Any coffee shop selling quality products of either? I had great Jamaican at Piccaso's last October.
My recommendation so far is to stick to Sativa in the day and Indica/Hashes at night...i know its a vague rule...I'd just hate to see a group of older ladies totally fucked out of their tree on the first smoke of the day.
And finally...me being 25, them being 50+...are there any recommended "MUST SEE OR DO"...touristy things. That may be more fitting for the older generation?
Thanks guys once again, you're help is always stellar.

As a 60+ smoker from the good old days I would agree with your Thai or Jamaican suggestion. That really should be sufficient for the group as these varieties would get them stoned 'like the good old days' and still allow them to walk-and-talk.
If something stronger is desired, then Orange Bud from Basjoe is the strongest I would suggest.
In fact, from experience I find Basjoe a very welcoming shop for the older smoker. I believe James and Leo would take very good care of the ladies.
As far as tourist attractions for the 4 days are concerned I suggest asking the group what their special interests are. Amsterdam is amazing for its many very small and very specialist museums. For example, the Hortus Botanicus might interest the gardeners.
Identify the interest and there will be something in Amsterdam which will delight.
But, in addition to seeing the many sights that Amsterdam has to offer, one of my favourite activities in Amsterdam is to find a nice place and "do nothing" and just enjoy the atmosphere of the city with a nice coffee or something stronger.

I'd have to agree Basjoe would be a good coffeeshop for older people, but surely La Tertulia would be even better
There are many coffeeshops that would be suitable enviroments for them, but you have to think about that before going into some coffeeshops. Thinking about comfort of seating and other things that you as a younger generation generally don't think about. Is it stools or chairs, that kind of thing.
The weed, orange bud would be a strong one and probably put them on the floor first time if they are occasional smokers. Hell, I used to make the orange Bud my first smoke in Amsterdam, and that always sent me off on the first day even though I smoke all the time
I would recommend NYC Diesel or some Blueberry, I know it is indica, but it really is not very strong, more about flavour than effect the blueberry

Just another suggestion, purple outdoor from Stix @ 6.00 euros a gram.
First thing I smoked on my last trip, I am usually only a monthly smoker, nice heady high, split a half gram with a friend and spent two hours walking around, checking out the sights feeling good but in control.
Also, it should go without saying, but dosage is key. Remind them to have one or two hits, wait 15 minutes, and decide if they need one or two more. That should keep them out of trouble.
Thank you.

Thanks for all your replies guys. I'm meeting up with my friends mom tonight to give her to low down and hopefully get some more info from her before she goes. I'll be sending them to Vondelpark for an afternoon for certain and hopefully get them down to mellow yellow on the way back into the city. Hopefully she'll be nice enough to send me something home for helping her out.

Hi luthier, I agree with Stoned since 67 , the Hortus gardens would be a great thing to do if you are into gardening. Make sure you check the Butterfly house and Orangey for a great terrace for tea and cakes! The bulb gardens near Leiden are also meant to be good at this time of the year.
As for coffeeshops all are fairly welcoming I would say to an older group especially outside of the rld..I must recommend Yo Yo which I think is ran by a older lady and has organic sativa weed which gives a clear high and is not too strong..have a great time...

Stoned Since 67 - Thanks for the Hortus Bontanicus idea. by the website it look like a place we have around here but a bit smaller. Basjoe's will be on their itinerary as i enjoyed it very much there. orange bud was a lovely smoke back in October. I'm gonna let them feel it out and see how they take each step of the way. I'll make sure they ask the bud tenders recommendation as that's the best way to know what you're getting.
Soul Rider - I found all examples of blueberry to be the perfect milder buzz, just gets you right where you wanna be. And the taste is pleasant. We often get blueberry around here that's very comparable to what I tried last October.
I only smoked the diesel mix from Katsu. Which was nice but not above and beyond. I'll get them down to 420 for the NYCD. Now I'll only suggest to them they try super silver haze, or some cheese/white cheese if they are feeling that they can handle it. After 3 days they might need something stronger.
Slim - I was gonna have them pop by Stix for the temple ball for a milder yet still very tastey hash. So I'll let them know the purple is where it's at for a nice day time smoke for walking.
I know I liked King Hassan(amnesia and others) and Honey hash(The Noon) along with the NTB(stix). Anyone else think of some hashes they might like? We don't get hash around here so I'm sure it'll be a nice treat for them if they wanna go that route.
Mr. Easy - Thanks for the recommendations. Yo-Yo is down near the Albert Cuyp Market where I'll be sending them for some fresh juices to start off the day and find some cool little shops. You can't stop a woman from shopping. I found most places to be welcoming to myself...other than Abraxas 2...which we won't get into just now.
Thanks to everyone, hopefully I'll have some more info by tonight or tomorrow from my friends mom.
