Im bringing my buddy this summer to amsterdam he is 18 will he be allowed to buy from coffeeshops?

yea im pretty sure its 18 as well. he may get carded though, so make sure he has id on him. im 24 and have been carded before(when i was 23).

18 or over only, expect to be carded even if your old enough as its a legal requirement to have ID with you I believe.

some shops wont let you stay and smoke (saw it happen only once at greenhouse) if you're under 21, but it should be fine.
i only got carded twice the whole trip anyways. and i dont really look that old (though i should hope its apparent i'm not 18)

In a word, Yes!
I may be wrong, but I think The Tweede Kamer/ Dampkring shops are the only shops with the 21 year olds only rule.

He will be okay, just make sure he has his passport on him. So get you tickets booked.

18 is the age you need to buy marihuana in the netherlands. some shops now start to make the 21-age rule, but it appears to me they only do this when they see the people look like kiddies or behave like they are...
