The article is kinda BS, but yeah, as elsewhere, the "benefits" of prohibitions are 1) Gang violence, 2) high crime rates, 3) more poverty and so on.

.. I laugh everytime I read that bullshit. All kinds of people (in Vancouver) actually believe it, and repeat it no less :roll: , because they are fucking moronic narcissists.

In my many years in Vancouver, I considered it a shithole. (It is a very rightwing place, by Canadian standards, although compared to the US, it is not). The downtown Eastside has been a wasteland for over 30 years, but people put blinders on, so if they never go down there, they can pretend it does NOT exist. (And the tourist brochures never seem to mention or show those lovely places where Vancouver lets their poorest folks rot away.)

Finally, "The one toke and you are ...." quote, by an un-named "academic" is priceless.
