and then you got

Cannada, USA and south america that dont mix with tobacco.

Of course these are generalities, but that is what I have experienced. I think they mix in baccy due to fact that most of those places where they mix baccy with grass, (save for Jamaica) used to be hash dominant places.

my opinion:
A joint without a filter? Wtf. Twizzers? Lol no way- nothing beat a filtered cone with a quarter of a ciggie and loads of herbz!

Tobacco, YUCK! You might as well have mixed the grass with donkey shit. I'll bet you'd get the same flavour and, it would likely do less damage to your lungs.

I only smoke pure grass.

I have never had any problem smoking filterless joints.

Yes ingwey true, to each their own, that is why i stated it was my opinion.
When thinking about it, i think it is true to say we use tobacco in our joints because hash was the main smoke back in the days.
I grew up in Brussels and I smoked morrocan ash as it was widely available and of great quality. Weed back then ( middle 90's) was not as popular as hashish

And about filters.
In France, Belgium and Morocco they use a piece of cigarette (about 1 cm) as a filter.
Have you seen that before?

My spanish mate puts a bit cig where the roach goes , after he rolls it !? i use king size silver wee bit cig (20%maybe) and a roach ! ive heard bout that toasting thing tried it once but prob never done it right ! lol

yes cisco, your mate does that too! That put spain on the list of country that use a lil'piece of a ciggie as a filter. I Prefer the UK style filter.

Well yeah, until i was 19 i was doing that too but then after moving to the UK i got used to a nice roach.

when i say i use a filter i do mean a roach ! eh im confusin myself

for me smoking is a very personal thing and i have my own little rituals and quirks that others don't have (for example i roll backwards apparently)

so i agree with 'to each their own'

it has taken me a long time to smoke weed the way i do and the way i have found works for me

but the discussion in this thread of roaches and filters and filters and roaches reminded me of my early smoking days in the late 60s

where i was the joints were rolled pure and without filters/roaches in a beautiful rice paper named Bambu

when the joint had burned down to the end (to what we called a 'roach') it became a question of holding a very hot thing with the very tips of your fingers in order not to miss a single puff

there were little metal clips around at the time called alligator clips which could be used to hold the 'roach' and finish the joint, but we always had to do it with our fingers for some reason and the tips of our fingers were always brown from the heat, but we never missed a puff

one friend had a cute trick we used to love, when there was only one single puff left in the roach, he would put it between his teeth, inhale strongly and the remaining weed would blaze into light and then he would open his mouth, the orange ball of glowing light would be sucked against the back of his throat and then the glow would just suddenly disappear, and we would be left stunned everytime

the trick was that when the dying ember hit the back of his throat, the moisture in his throat put it out immediately and before he swallowed it so it did not hurt at all (or so he said)

it was amazing at the best of times, but as we all had just shared a joint (we had to share joints in those days) we were not only stoned but astonished

i tried it myself too and it worked and i did it once in front of a mirror and astonished myself, but the roach did not taste very nice so i quit and let my friend do the show instead

I dont know if this is everywhere in Germany, but I have smoked with many people from many different part of germany and most of them put at least 50-60% tobacco into their joints....

i also roll my joints 50/50 (as most people here), i would smoke pure but i just can´t afford it. i like to roll long thin cone shaped joints with a filter tip made out of thick paper.

mabey a bit off topic but: when i´m in amsterdam, or a friend of mine had harvest time, i roll pure joint´s. from some strains, when i inhale deep, it feels like my lung is collapsing? you now what i mean? anyone got a explanation for that? i can remember that ssh from mellow yellow was such a smoke.

first of all, I would recommend you to roll almost pure. I thought the same as you "I cant afford it", but its not that hard, you just have to learn to roll VERY VERY THIN, this is the trick about this
the thing about collapsing your lungs, this is nothing special when smoking pure AND big, like already stated when you smoke pure its best to roll as thin as you can, this way I always feel better

Very informative thread.

I used to be strictly a blunt smoker but after my trip have developed a newfound appreciation for joints. I roll American style (no baccy/tubular) but with a filter to give it that Euro touch..........
