ROACH VS. FILTER

There's some confusion arising from American English vs British English:

The small rolled-up tube of cardboard we roll into our spliffs is generally called a 'roach' in England, and serves the purpose of keeping the airflow, so the end doesn't become gummed shut with oil/saliva. If it's rolled in a spiral, it also serves to stop little bits of baccy/weed coming though and being inhaled. Also, as the last bit of the joint is just cardboard it removes the need for an alligator/roach clip.

The cottonwool-like tips to put in handrolled cigarettes are referred to as 'filters'. However, 'filter' can also refer to a roach, presumably referring to the fact it acts to 'filter out' bits of tobacco/weed.

TOBACCO

It's interesting to note how militantly people stick to their preferred brand of baccy. The reason being, when you're used to it, you only really taste the weed. An unfamiliar baccy taste interferes with this. I can also see how, if you're used to smoking purees, any tobacco at all in a joint would seem fkn rank & disgusting.
we call them "tobacco-bombs",
we call them tobacco feasts
the less baccy the better
