I would do the same... except I'd make sure he didn't get video of me kicking his ass.titus wong wrote:what the man said.Pauli Wallnuts wrote:though if i was sitting in a coffeeshop & someone pulled out a camcorder & started filming me without notice, depending on my mood i would get up & walk out or smash the thing.
Always gotta ask permission, anywhere in public for that matter.

you are delusional....wrong attitude..get yer ass kicked real quick..you should probably walk out,,,never cool to fight or cause shit in a shop..so heres what you learned..if ya see a camera, just get up and run..i aint announcing to the shop that im filming and it sure aint intended to be you im filming... and id be the wrong person to try and smash my camera...hehehe...stress and stupidity will kill ya...just leave....theres another shop 5 minutes away...maybe you can hide there....but look around..the cameras are everywhere..like i said stay home if ya dont wanna be seen...sorry if im comin off hard,,not intended...just some cameras are expensive..and smashing them causes problems....and they are EVERYWHERE in amsterdam..its a vacation or holiday destination...its gonna happen....ill see ya in november..ill be filming at basjoe everynight.....this has been a mazar fueled rant...weeeeeeeeeeTwoCanucks wrote:I would do the same... except I'd make sure he didn't get video of me kicking his ass.titus wong wrote:what the man said.Pauli Wallnuts wrote:though if i was sitting in a coffeeshop & someone pulled out a camcorder & started filming me without notice, depending on my mood i would get up & walk out or smash the thing.

and thats cool....and it would cease..at least in yer direction...just make sure you rip the webcams down that are in every other shop...that way the whole council wont be watchin you on a jumbotron..at the local football stadium during the sunday breakfast meet....hell of a way to go out..blowin a hammer in front of 50000 of yer closest friends...lol....hmmmmmSiGh wrote:I wouldn't smash the camera, but I'd ask politely for them to stop filming me. I work at a school, and like someone said, if a video appeared on YouTube of me smoking a joint, and my local council saw it, I'd probably be sacked.

Im, as Sigh, in education. I would 100% loose my job also. I have people to support on my money so i cannot afford to loose my job, it also calls into doubt your QTS standards which means you could be refused to teach again. Webcams arent really an issue, they're a live stream, you could argue it wasnt you. If the videos on youtube and people can look it up and see that its you, well, then your are well and truely in the brown stuff.
Please dont film me, feel free to film your buds and your friends.

I bet there isn't. But its for a good reason. Here in the States, we lock people up for bud as casually as one goes about brushing their teeth. The Dutch system is simply astonishing when one lives their whole life inside of the US and then discovers tolerance elsewhere lol. Amsterdam and the Netherlands serve as a symbol of hope for the rest of the world that maybe one day governments will wake up and realize what the hell is going on... sorry. I'm a poli sci major lol its just all so very interesting to me, thats all.Potimus wrote:There never seems to be a shortage of people who want to talk about those subjects in the Dam.intricatethakid wrote:Possibly meet some of the locals, and get their viewpoints on marijuana and Amsterdam's system of tolerance.
lol.
And thanks for the wide array of responses. I plan on asking in each shop if its okay, and then if it is, the filming will be kept to strictly me and my fellow traveler.

Look intricatethekid m8, I know its the gas to photograph, film and record every second of our fascinating lives, and I know the saying is "if you can remember it you weren't there" But I think thats b%ll@x. I've got stacks of memories of 44 years of dedication to the Herb, full colour IMAX.
I dont want to sound like a drag, but I dont think many of us are recording posterity any more like pre camcorder days when just a few people had movie cameras. I personally find it a bit intrusive when you are somewhere relaxing and the cameras are poking around. Although I dont have a problem as some do with being ID'd as any one who matters including my boss know exactly who I am.
My advice. Go to Amsterdam, love it, live it, get as wrecked as you feel you want to, take a few snaps . And have a GOOD TIME
if your m8's dont believe you who cares.
There is probably 10 million hours of Coffeeshop footage on the web, just with out you in it
, but you can put that right with a bit of tech. whiz.
Love, Peace and have a great time.
