I guess Americans are more used to travelling 'armed' so to speak. Some states in America even allow you to carry a concealed handgun, that to me is just like......wtf! How can citizens be trusted to carry round such weapons?
It is a sad time indeed in the states with all the weapons being used on innocent bystanders. Most states these days do allow concealed guns if you pass a background check from the goverment. WTF??? I served in the Army a long time ago and have never touched any type of weapon since and never will again cause they are designed to only do one thing KILL. The world needs peace not weapons.
Pass the peace pipe.

Organisations such as the NRA claim that carrying concealed weapons is a deterrent, as people are less likely to commit a crime, or mug someone knowing that person may be carrying a gun.

Personally i don't think that theory works, there are too many trigger happy people out there, plus i don't think that robbing a McDonalds for some small change justifies being shot.

How the hell does this logic work? If a criminal thinks you may be armed - and is still considering robbing you - wouldn't that criminal now go and invest in a bigger weapon?

This logic of the NRA seems illogical to say the least (and very idiotic)

Thanks for the info mate!

Deterrents do not work on a crack junkie looking for quid for his next hit... that's what politicians don't understand.

The US is the home of the wild west, and they promote that existence through their gun laws.

Laws or no laws, if someone wants to use a gun, they will.

Live by the gun, die by the gun.
Sadly I remember something said to me when I just entered the Army from a combat vet: Go to exotic places, meet exotic people and kill them. WTF!!!!! I knew then I had screwed up bad, but they had me for 6 years of my life in hell. I will always carry the scares inside and out. I was so jadded in my cocoon in the states, (never again). Why are they such warlords and try to make everyone think like us????????? We are not the police of the world and who said were right all the damn time. When I go overseas and people say oh your American I want to stick my head in the damn sand at times.

It annoys me when i hear people talk about soldiers in Iraq/Afghanistan fighting for our 'freedom' etc.

They're not fighting for our freedom, Iraq was never going to invade us, instead they're dropping dirty bombs on civilians from 30,000 feet. What for? Freedom? Nah, more like oil.

Nothing against soldiers of course, they're only doing what they're told, and i respect them for putting their lives on the line in their duty. I just don't agree with the reasoning in sending soldiers to their death.

Google up "Full Spectrum Dominance" in google images and you'll see where USA puts its Army Bases around the world - always in countries which produce POWER (Oil, etc)

And the way they "bully" 3rd world countries into submission is aweful - the UN is a fucking joke too - where do they intervene? Nowhere - they play Pass the Buck with aid and drop weapons instead of food! This so called New World Movement is a shambles and will never establish itself soundly enough to have the people back it!

This saying was on different posters, hippie & military during the late 60s & early 70s. I remember it too well.

If it was me mate - I probably woulda got Court Marshalled for rebelling - but then again, maybe not...itys mob culture in the Army, and you do as you're told, that much I do understand!

although guns are bad, dont think for 1second that government drives to disarm the public are in our interest, they are preparing for evential martial law, dont forget 1 of the 1st regimes in the world to disarm the public was hitlers third reich, in the u.k our government is stamping out all possibilities of the public defending themselves against such regimes/laws, they have even banned plastic replicas & imitation samurai swords, whatever happened to the saying 'an englishmans home is his castle' imo if u have not commited any serious crime u should be allowed to keep a firearm at home for defence, (but face serious punishment if caught carrying in public) my brothers friend came home 1day & found 2thieves in his house unplugging his dvd player & games console, he picked up a chair & knocked 1 of them out, guess what, HE was arrested for assault & the thieves let go, how fucked up is that. people in the u.k might have heard of Peter Woodhams (R.I.P), he was a cousin of mine, he was gunned down in canning town in front of his family for standing up to local thugs who had stabbed him in the neck months earlier, they were never arrested even though he gave a statement to the pigs, they would laugh at him & make mock throat slitting gestures towards him everytime he stepped out of his front door. the 1time he stood up for himself & his family they shot him dead on his doorstep. if he had a gun he might still be alive. i think the U.S should look at why people shoot eachover, lack of youth funding, social care, media hysteria, etc, & not blame the legally owned guns which dont account for hardly any murders. As for someone holding up a mcdonalds not deserving being shot, bullshit, live by the gun die by the gun.

Reminds me of a verse by rapper Vinnie Paz from Jedi Mind Tricks.

"I dont know why im over here this job is evil,
they sent me there to Vietnam to kill innocent people,
my mother wrote me said the president he doesnt care,
were trying to leave the footprints of America here "

Beejun - I hear you mate - but We're the sheep... We cant make decisions, all we can do as a people is revolt. Revolution scares the govt, as it threatens the very principles it stands on (but organised revolution cant occur in modern society, we're too well watched by all these CCTV cameras and shit) - so on that note, if we really wanna change policies, we gotta get into that politics and lie our arses off... Standard protocol mate!
