L-plate is the same thing as L-skin... just UK slang I believe. In reference to the "L-plates" learner drivers have to show when driving.

Never heard that before Hammy. An 'L', a two-skinner, yes.
What does being a learner have to do with that type of spliff?

It's an 'L' shaped spliff. Learner drivers have to wear 'L' plates. The spliff is called 'L' plates because in the UK, the most common 'L' symbol, is the learner plates. Even brides wear them on their hen do's.
It's just a nonsense association that sticks, as is the way of these things...

Ah, ok. Sorry, I was reading too much into it. Thought it was somehow meant to imply that they're a 'learner' type spliff.

SoulRider is talkin shit again. I'm a Londoner, the only L-plate i've heard of are the ones novice drivers stick on their cars!
I suspect SR is trying to sound "en vogue" again lol. I'm pissing myself laughing at his L-plate reference. don't believe the hype people... SoulRider lives to serve as a warning to others...

Well, yeah. But that has a meaning, it's not just a nonsensical word (or letter rather) association.
I'm going to start calling them 'Macphersons' from now on. Just to confuse people.

I'm talking shit? Sorry, I didn't realise being a Londoner enabled you to have an understanding of every piece of slang that exists in the English language.
I bow down to your superior knowledge, guess the guy who brought it up and all the people I know who use that particular piece of slang are as stupid as me and didn't realise that you hadn't authorised the use of it.
I'll let them know to stop using it.
Also how does this particular comment make me in fashion? The last place I ever want to be is in fashion, but that's a whole other story..
