International Prices

Post by rks0 »

Whilst idlely surfing online, I came across this article:

The Anjuna police arrested one person for possessing 3.8 kg of ganja worth Rs 40,000.

Police sources said that on Friday afternoon, they found one Pinku Behra from Orissa moving in a suspicious manner near Tendi, Anjuna.

On seeing the police jeep, the accused tried to flee from the scene. After being caught by the cops, Behra told them that he was waiting for a friend. On searching his bag, the police found 3.8 kg of ganja in it.

Following interrogation, the accused told the police that he had arrived in Goa seven days back and was working at a construction site in Porvorim. He also said that the packet containing the contraband substance was handed over to him by a friend.

Nothing unusual in itself in that it's an article about some bloke (unfortunately) getting busted. What surprised me was the price of the weed. At current exchange rates, this works out at aprox €595 for 3.8 kg of weed, or aprox 16 cents per gram. Now I know, that these are bulk Indian prices, and there is no indication of quality, but nevertheless, that's damn cheap weed!

Keep in mind that most police forces tend to greatly exaggerate the prices of the dope, in the their busts. So, you would likey want to adjust that figure downward.

Ya gotta love those prices, though. Even if it is only half-decent bud, it is cheap.

IG, I absolutely agree with you! To think that the price has potentially been INFLATED to 16 cents is crazy!
