Too true, and the worst part of it is... the way it used to be! We're worried about 10 years from now, and forget recent history... how great were things just a few years ago?

Even though are first trip is just around the corner, I am so bothered that I didn't get to Amsterdam earlier in life... sigh.
Besides the banning of shrooms and the closing of windows, what else is missing today that made Adam THAT much better a few years ago?

I only made my first pilgrimage last month and had a blast. Can only imagine how shit was a few years ago if it was any better that what I experienced.

For the language used i apologise, i am a non journalist.

I was pleasant to start with. I took exception to the underhand sarcastic swipe made towards this site and it's users by the clever professional.
If you missed it or are happy with it i apologise. i agree there are times when i should shut my mouth or tie my hands behind my back as it were. I am stupid :(

For the TV star i am saluting you while i am typing, congratulations changing ome persons views alone goes a long way. Afterall i for one could never ever do what you have done.

Don't forget the change of currency, the smoking ban, closure of coffeshops, the installation of cctv, all these things i have listed have come in to play today.
Man, before all these things it was not only a Budsmokers paradise but also a pimps paradise, and a junkie's heaven.
I remember stepping out of central station the first time i went in 1998, and being hit with a strong pungent smell of Skunk, i don't notice that any more.
Whats more, 100 euros today would of been worth about 300 guilders back then. 3.5g of bomb buds was like 25 guilders today 3.5g of bomb bud cost's more like 35 euros. A top end bitch was selling the P for like 50 guilders and low end ho's were doing business for like 25 guilders, today its 50/25 euros.
There was a time before i went i do belife, in around 1994 that one was able to buy up to 28g over the counter from (maybe) any coffeeshops, one of the longer vets' will really be able to tell about this tho'.
Oh yeah and you never had to buy train tickets before gettin on board as there was a conductor selling them on the trains sometime, other times u just ride for free, try that today and its a 35euro fine.
There's so many little change's in Amsterdam and it continues. When i introduce people to the city for the first time i leave them to enjoy what they see as i know the Amsterdam i first came to is Done.

was mainly referring to the amount of weed you could purchase more than anything, but also shrooms and the number of shops.

The most recent public report does not list the coffeeshops by name, but it does list the streets -- and number of coffeeshops in those streets -- that are affected:

Damstraat (1)
Lange Niezel (3)
Nieuwebrugsteeg (1)
Nieuwendijk (4)
Oude Hoogstraat (3)
Oudebrugsteeg (2)
Oudekerksplein (1)
Warmoesstraat (10)
Wijde Kerksteeg (1)

lost in amsterdam isnt a coffeeshop anymore is it? i remember on my last trips they were selling anything... did that change? or was i just that fucked up and have my memories mixed up.

seems that warmoestraat is sure taking a beating if they close the 26. is that considered a bad street compared to others or something? why focus on that street so much?

i sure hope they slow down on all these changes. i gotta get my ass back over there.
